That's a resolution settings issue on the scanner software. Open up the scan manager, and set the resolution at fine or less, not superfine(which works for color photos, etc.)

HP LaserJet M5025 MFP scans too light. Under default job options, image adjustment, darkness set to 3. The printer was sent to us upside down. We recently installed a brand new cartridge. Any suggestions?

If you print the configuration pages from the administration>information menu and they look dark then you know that the printing system is working fine. If they are light as well, then it is possible that being shipped upside down resulted in some dirt getting into the laser scanner. The image original settings are kind of wonky, in that it is backwards to normal assumptions. Darkness refers to the actual orignal you are scanning, so in most cases if you have lighter origjnals then you need to set darkness lower. As well, check whether the image type is set for photo or text. Setting for text will result in darker scans.

When trying to print, message comes up saying printer needs aligned. It will only print the aligned page, and the printing on it is fine. Printer will print from the internet, but not from Microsoft...

Usually, the second part of the "alignment" process is to put the printed page into the scanner,
and then to scan the page -- the Lexmark will compare the "actual" printed-page with the "optimal" settings, and will adjust the printer to "align" the heads. Have you done this part?

> will not print ... from Microsoft Word

What happens? What does not happen? Did you use setup in Word to choose your printer as the "default" printer?

I've been scanning in drawings and the drawings each have some words at the bottom of the page. When I scan it, only the words appear to be recognized but not the drawing. It was working fine before, why...

may be you have written the words in darker ink and drawing might have been in pencil! scanner usually recognises dark areas and adjusts the picture based on it! make sure you darken the drawing as much as those words!

Broad dark line on right edge of copied papers

If you have the black line on copies and scans but printing from P.C is fine, then your scanner is broken.

Contact your printer manufacturer for a replacement or repair.

What driver or software is needed to install the HP2355 scanner?

You can't scan to word unless you have OCR software running. Word is for text and without OCR it is only a picture or image and not text. It's not cheap but you need to shop around for something like Adobe with OCR to convert to text.

SmarThru Office can't see scanner (nor can word)

Windows is using Window's default scan driver, so it's working only within Windows scan wizard feature. You will need to install the Scan Driver separately to work with SmarThru and other software. The Scan Driver is available at Samsung website.

Scans slides too dark.

maybe the slides are too dark, in other words, the pictures you took didn't have enough exposure therefore you it shows up dark.. You could always use photoshop or someother photo manipulation software to lighten the scan, same thing happens with my hp scanner with slide adapter, if it slides just show up dark, lightening it with software will help, unless it is unsaturated/shadows too dark, etc..

Hope this helps.

HP PSC 2355 all-in-one scanning problem

hi shaundoyle -

first, I wanted to point you to HP's general support page for your model:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=422000&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

here is another link, this one to a doc for connecting to more than one HP product using a Mac:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpm01356&dlc=en&product=422000

here's a link to a doc about the scanning stopping:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00803473&dlc=en&product=422000

and yet another link, this one for probs printing through 'classic' applications:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00035422&dlc=en&product=422000

it sounds like one piece of software overwrote another, or your two pieces of hardware are fighting each other for your Mac's attention. hope this helps a little.
