Hello

Probably the monitor. LCD monitors use electrolytic capactors which change value with heat. The power board in yours probably has 6 to 8 caps whic need replacement. Take it to a reputable repair person or check out my websit.

Thanks

My home dell computer monitor has went black with a box on it. * The floating dialog box appeared on screen (against a black background) * The dialog box float around the screen without any visual...

The dialog box you are seeing means that the monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer.

check your cable going from the monitor to the computer. if the cable seems ok, hold the power button on your towerr until it turns off, then wait 5 seconds and push the computer power button again.

Cheers

I have a blue and white padlock keeps showing up in the middle of my screen. Blinks on and off for a while then disappears, then comes back. On and on, very irritating.

It sounds like the DELL Capslock indicator. It is a light blue square with a lock on it and a capitol A under the hasp. You may have a bad keyboard key. switch out keyboards and see what happens.
Good luck,
James.

Monitor comes on for a split second , and then off

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Dell monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Hp flat panel monitor comes on shows logon and then blank screen

Ok, another words, monitor powers up for few seconds and shuts down by itself. If green LED on the front panel turns off as well or stays on?
If stays on, then inverter turns into protection mode because of old backlight lamps.
If it turns off in same time with an image on the screen, then there are some bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.

Dell E152FP monitor goes black at startup, but not permanently

My bet is that your monitor is on it's way out. If this is true, it will get worse until it gets to a point where it no longer works at all. Connecting the monitor to another computer should confirm my suspicion. The monitor has probably developed a problem with some capacitors inside. The parts are not expensive, but finding a shop to do the work at all may be a challenge. If you're handy with a soldering iron you might want to have a try at it.

Problem with Dell E152FP Monitor

If you open the monitor up, on the inverter board is a 1000uF 16v capacitor that goes bad. If you replace that it should fix the problem. Look at the top of all the capacitors and you should see one that's popped up on the top, that would be the bad one. Some soldering is required. Make sure you put the negative white stripe on the white side of the silk screen on the board! Its a simple fix just sounds difficult.
