I have the 3 RCA red, yellow, white cables on back of dvd and to tv. Video only plays when I select video 1 under the input. When when I select video 3 only sound and no video. What else can I try?

Sounds like from the symptoms that you have plugged the white and red cables into AV3 input on the back of the Teleivsion and plugged the yellow cable into AV1 on the back of the Television.
Check the cables are all plugged into AV1 input ports on the back of the Television. Red and White go into the Audio inputs and Yellow goes in the video input. Also make sure you have not plugged cables into component inputs on television look for AV1 in on back of Television .

Trying to hook up my daughters dvd and tv. I've got one set of cables with yellow red and white connections,where do they go?

Red is for Left Audio Output, to TV Left Audio Input
White is for Right Audio Output, to TV Right Audio Input
Yellow is for Video Output to TV Video Input

You should see the same color coded RCA jacks on the rear of your TV unit. Just match the inputs to the correct device ie: Video 1, Video 2, etc

Hi. I have recently purhased an Acoustic Solutions DVDRW300 DVD Recorder. I have no instruction manual and have no idea how to set it up or work it!! Please help as im totally useless!!

Hello!
I am assuming that you want to INPUT your TV/Cable Box to your DVDRW, and have the DVDRW then be able to OUTPUT to the TV.
Here's what you need to do:
1. Locate the OUTPUTS of your TV/Cable box at the back of your set. There should either be the RCA jacks (Yellow/White/Red), S-Video, VGA, DVI or HDMI . Make sure that they are OUTPUTS. It'll probably say TV-out or just out.

2. Locate the INPUTS of your DVDRW. Similarly, it should either be the RCA jacks (Yellow/White/Red), S-Video, VGA, DVI or HDMI. Ensure that they are INPUTS.

3. Match up the outputs to the inputs. Now, I have listed the OUTPUT/INPUTS going from lowest quality to highest quality. So let's say your TV has RCA, S-Video and HDMI outputs, and your DVDRW has only RCA and S-Video. HDMI is ruled out, unless you get a converter (which is pretty pricey). Choose which one, and buy/use the right cables.

4. Here are the connections for each type of OUT/IN. (TV/Cable >>>>> DVDRW)
  • RCA (Yellow/White/Red) >>>>> RCA (Yellow/White/Red)
  • S-Video + RCA (White/Red) >>>>> S-Video + RCA (White/Red)
  • VGA + RCA (White/Red) >>>>> VGA + RCA (White/Red)
  • DVI + RCA (White/Red) >>>>> DVI+ RCA (White/Red)
  • HDMI >>>>> HDMI
5. Connecting the DVDRW back to the TV. So now, you can record whatever is playing live on your TV. But you also want to play things from your DVDRW on your TV. Check the OUTPUTS of the DVDRW. It should have either the same jacks as the INPUTS. Check the INPUTS of the TV.
6. Follow Step 4, and 5. Note that for connections, you are going from the OUT of the DVDRW to one of the INs of the TV. Keep track of what INPUT on the TV you are connecting to.
Voila! Let's test it, though. Now, turn your TV and DVDRW on. Put in a DVD (a movie perhaps) in your DVDRW. On your TV, switch the channel to the INPUT channel you used. You should see your movie. If not, try another INPUT on your TV.
If it's fine, then let's try recording a TV show. Switch the channel on your TV to whatever you want to watch, say Cartoon Network. Put in a blank DVD in your player/recorder. Hit record on the player. Let it record about 2-3 minutes, and stop recording.
Switch the TV back to the INPUT which works, and hit play on the DVDRW. You should see what you recorded.
Hope this helps!

Is i possible to connect a rca cable to the converter box from a dvd player and watch on the tv?

DVD players can have several outputs:
* coaxiable cable
* composite video (RED/WHITE for stereo audio, and YELLOW for video)
* component video (RED/BLUE/GREEN to video components, plus RED/WHITE for stereo audio)
* HDMI

TVs can have several inputs:
* coaxiable cable
* composite video (RED/WHITE for stereo audio, and YELLOW for video)
* component video (RED/BLUE/GREEN to video components, plus RED/WHITE for stereo audio)
* HDMI

Just use the correct tables to "match" the output to the input.

I don't know how to hood up DVD player to T.V, Can you help Please?

On the back of the DVD player there are three outputs RCA jacks (yellow= Vedio) (white=Audio) (Red=Audio) It will say video out and Audio out.
On the back of the TV you will have the sane connectors on the back. Look for Video 1, there will be a yellow input and red and white audio inputs. and conect the outpit of the DVD player to the input of the TV, with RCA cables you can buy any where they sell TVs

No colour

Hi, Definitely a TV issue for me. Changed Wii to another input on TV and resolved situation. Need now to check how to get my TV to recognize colour on AV2 & 3 because I prefer to keep DVD input as AV1!

I had to use the (RCA) video inputs and not the component inputs. These are the ones made for video games. If you want to use the component input (Component cables are Red,White Red, Green, Blue). If you don't have any, you should be able to purchase them at your local electronics store like Radio Shack or Best Buy. Hope this helps, read below:

TV (This is your cable connection or TV; coax)
Component 1 (Must use component cables for this input/output; Red and White for audio, Red, Blue, Green for Video)
Component 2 (Must use component cables for this input/output; Red and White for audio, Red, Blue, Green for Video)
HDMI 1 (HDMI Cable)
HDMI 2 (HDMI Cable)
Video 1 (Must Use RCA cables, or RCA jacks; Red and White for Audio, Yellow for Video)
Video 2 (Must Use RCA cables, or RCA jacks; Red and White for Audio, Yellow for Video)

Can you put a phillips dvdr610 onto a television with built in freeview and then record from it. If so how?

If your TV has an OUTPUT MONITOR Output Jacks, Yellow, (Video) Red (Audio) & White (Audio) FEMALE RCA Jacks.Then these will output WHATEVER is showing on the TV screen. And can be used as an Output for any Recording Viewing device. There will be other, FEMALE RCA Jacks,AV, Yellow, (Video) Red (Audio) & White (Audio) and possibly also The Composite Video, Red, Green, Blue, all Video, These are INPUTS, they will be there also. Make sure.

Have an RCA F27636BC TV. Can u hook a DVD player

How to hookup TV

If you have a TV with only a single coax input and you want to hook up components like DVD players and VCRs, here's how to do it.

What you need to connect your DVD player or game players to a TV that only has a VHF/UHF 75-ohm F-connector ("coax antenna input").

1.) RF Modulator with Stereo Audio Inputs.

2.) 6 foot long coaxial cable with male "F" connectors. This cable goes from the modulator to the TV. The modulator also has a coaxial input to plug in your antenna or your VCR.

3.) 6 foot long Video and Audio Cables with "RCA" plugs. The cables connect the yellow, red and white outputs from your DVD or game player to the yellow, red and white inputs of the modulator.

Works with X-Box, PlayStation, Nintendo or other devices that output audio/video via the RCA plugs and you want to connect them to your coaxial only TV.

I am trying to connect an akai dvd player to directv, please help

ruettab,

good day. to connect your any DVD player to any TV screen always remember this color code

from DVD back part:

yellow = video out

red/blue/green( in a row) = component video out ( this can only be used for screen with component video inputs)

Black = digital audio ( rarely use unless)
Red and white (in a row) = Audio output (left and right audio)

where to connect from TV screen.

Locate where A/V INPUTS (audio/video socket) from your TV screen, you can see it either at the BACK/SIDE or somtimes in FRONT of TV screen , having marked as "AV1"AV2"AV3' .

Once you found TV input, you must first have RCA cable (color code cable to connect player to screen) then connect the RCA cable at the back of your DVD player, simply follow color code

RCA yellow marked cable = DVD yellow socket
RCA RED and WHITE marked cable = DVD RED and white socket (second row for your player)

then connect the other end of the RCA cable to TV screen, first select which input where you gonna place the DVD player ( either AV1, Av2 or Av3 if do have multiple inputs)

once decided which INPUT to connect the player.
ex. if you select AV1 as input there would be 3socket on its row (yellow/red/white)

now connect the other end of RCA cable to the screen by following the same color code:

RCA yellow cable = TV screen A/V1 input yellow socket
RCA RED and White = TV screen A/V1 input red and white socket.

cheers,
mark

I HAVE A RCA TELEVISION, MODEL F20632. I CANNOT FIND THE MANUAL TO HELP ME SET UP MY VCR. I HAVE A 4-PLUG VIDEO CABLE (YELLOW, BLACK, GREEN AND RED). CAN YOU TELL ME WHICH CONNECTIONS ON THE TV I NEED TO...

the yellow rca input jack( not the output one ) is for video in (by itself ) and the red and white rca jack inputs are for the right and left audio that is also required when using the yellow video jack
the red and white audio jacks are also required when using the component video inputs ( BLUE , GREEN & RED ) rca jacks
but only one type of connection is required ( yellow video jack , red and white audio jacks ) or ( the blue , green and red component video jacks and the red and white audio jacks )

you will need the yellow video input and the red and white audio inputs
