I keep getting an error that I have more than one of the same ink tank. Its not accurate and I can't print anything as a result

We have experienced a similar problem where the printer says there are 2 magenta cartridges installed which is not true (I also noticed when opening the carriage tray that the yellow cartridge was flashing, not the magenta).

We have replaced both the magenta and yellow cartridges and installed them in the correct slot, but after working okay for a short time soon received the same error message.

I purchased the Canon after owning 2 HP printers (never had this problem with the latter) and hope this can be corrected without replacing hardware.

I also get error code U150, following tank cannot be recognized. It is always the first, thin black tank. I cannot get the pronter to work???

You need to clean your waste ink i think. For troubleshooting purposes, please perform the following:
1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.
2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.
3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.
5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Error code U071 , more than one ink tank of te following color is installed, is the message on the screen. This is not the case as each cartridge is different and correctly installed?

Hi there,

Error U071 : More than one ink tank of the following color is installed. U071.
Action : Confirm that the ink tanks are installed in the appropriate positions.
The machine will not print if the wrong type of ink tank is used, or if it is installed in the incorrect position.
Be sure to install the ink tanks in the correct order. The proper arrangement from the left is Black (CLI-8BK), Black (PGI-5BK), Yellow (CLI-8Y), Magenta (CLI-8M), Cyan (CLI-8C).

Hope this hepls.

Need to replace ink cartridge

http://reviews.cnet.com/multifunction-devices/pixma-mp830-office-all/4505-3181_7-31785803.html

Replacing the five ink tanks (cyan, yellow, magenta, black dye, and black pigment) is a simple task. The top of the printer flips up to reveal the ink tanks and the printheads, and by flipping a lever, you can pull out each tank individually. Being able to replace individual tanks is a boon, as you won't waste colors you use less frequently. Also, you won't need separate photo ink to print photos, which we appreciate. Canon ships the Pixma MP830 with full ink tanks. Replacement color and dye-based black ink tanks cost $14.25 apiece, while the pigment-based black ink tank costs $16.25. Canon estimates the cost per page for both black text and color text to be an inexpensive 2 cents.

Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer, ERROR MESSAGE

tbryant619:

Have you checked the ink tanks to verify that they are OK. If 1 of them is empty that could trigger the messages. Look in the user's guide starting at pg 161 for a list of messages. let me know if you need any further assistance. i've pasted the user's guide address link just in case you don't have it.

Printing Cartridge error

Hi,

I've seen this problem before and it turned out to be a faulty chip on the cartridge as opposed to a problem with the printer. Canon should replace the cartridge free of charge if this happens.

Looks like Fillserv.com has a chip resetter for the CLI8 color cartridges, but I don't know if that unit will reset the big black PGBK cartridge in the MP830.

"I bought a parked car."

I solved the Canon ink tank problem... I bought a new Canon ink tank.

Just how many non-working tanks am I subject to get in a lifetime is the question.

Note: When the scanning unit (printer cover) is opened more than ten minutes, the print head moves to the right side. If this occurs, close the scanning unit (printer cover), and open it again.

  3. Open the inner cover.

  4. Press on the tab to release the ink tank, then remove it from its slot. If you are replacing multiple ink tanks, make sure to replace one by one.
