I have the same inquiry. Why can't this TV work without cable box

  • NaliniParikh Nov 16, 2008

Why can't the Sharp Acquos work without a cable box? I tried connecting my cable wire directly to the TV (bypassing the box) and I don't get a picture. Why is this? Can these TVs work without an actualy cable box.

  • farmerwoody Dec 07, 2008

I can't get a picture. When I change channels I get the message:
    No input selection available.
I followed the above suggestion without success.
Is  it the TV or my satellite?

Hey Guys and Gals I have the solution to your problem. Your channel memory on the remote has been forgotten. Simply navigate through your menu on the remote and rediscover the channels and your issue should be solved. I had the same issue it just took me a little time to figure it out.

BTW if you are hooking up your TV with a direct cable connection in the back without a box, and you go to the menu and do a search for air/cable channels it will even find the channels in between the regular broadcast stations (i.e. between 2 and 3 there is 2.1. which is channel 2 HD and so on for the regular stations that broadcast HD channels). Cheers and good luck the Sharp Aquos is an awesome TV!

Regards,

Jeff the Sofa King :)

Comcast remote: all of a sudden channel input is slow

Unplug the cable box from the wall socket, wait a few seconds, and then plug it in again. I've heard that this solution works.

I was able to program my Comcast remote to control the volume of my tv, but was unable to get it to change channels. Is there something else that I should do?

Controlling the TV power and volume is probably all you'll be able to do with that control. The Comcast remotes are meant to be used with their converter boxes, and normally people want to change channels on the box while the TV stays on the box output channel (usually 3, sometimes 4). The remote's channel up and down buttons and number keypad only send out the codes recognized by the converter box. You'll need to fall back to the TV remote if you want to control more than power and volume.

Can't change channels expect by inputing numbers

Try to reload the the remote by using the universal remote code for comcast cable. This number should be available in your owners manual or on the Sharp website. You should search the websites frequently asked questions and troubleshooting sections for you model of television to see if someone already has had the problem answered. If all this fails you must contact the customer service for both the remote and television and get help. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Figuring out the TV channels for Comcast using the Sharp remote

Unfortunately there is no listing. I suggest taking a little time to sit next to the television with an notepad to go through each channel one at a time to label what stations come in on what channel numbers. Sorry.

Comcast Remote requires 3 digits be entered to change channels

l. Push the "Menu button"
2. Push the "Menu button" again
3. Scroll to "Setup" and push "OK"
4. Scroll to "Guide setup" and push "OK"
5. Scroll to"No Auto Tune"
6. Click on arrow next to "No Auto Tune". This will change it to "Auto Tune".
7. Now exit, or just punch in any channel number.

You should now be able to go directly to a channel without entering zeros.

Remote only advances by one channel.

The button on the remote next to 0 and below 9 has to be depressed to _ _ before you select any 2 digit channels. I had the same problem and accidently figured it out. Hope it helps. TC
