My pictures are turning out blurry and sometimes it does a double flash when I take pictures. How do I change the settings so that on i-auto mode, the pictures will turn out clearer.

first thing you can do is to try reverting cam back to factory settings.to do that initialize the camera.it's under menu>setup settings>main settings1>initialize. after initializing,set cam to auto adjustment mode (green camera icon in mode dial). what to avoid when taking pictures:
1.subject too close (use macro if needed)
2.insufficient light
3.subject movement
4.camera movement (that's caused by you)
5.incorrect camera setting
5.incorrect camera operation
btw, before you take a picture,press the shutter button halfway down first to give the cam ample time to focus.you'll see a flashing green indicator on the screen that means cam is focusing.when the indicator stops blinking cam is ready for the shot.press shutter button all the way.review your picture.if still blurry, you may try changing iso (for dark or fast moving subject, note:the greater value the noisier the picture gets), metering mode and focus settings by going to the shooting menu (press menu when your in P or program mode). hope this helps.tnx:)

Instead of green auto mode set to P mode and chagne the flash setting to non auto.If flash is is in auto mode flash will not fire and picture will be blurry.So your flash must fire every time (and it must not be decided by camera's auto flash mode).

Double-check your flash settings. You mentioned the camera is in Auto mode, but the flash has separate settings from the camera's shooting mode. With the camera in shooting mode AUTO check the Flash settings (Auto, Red-Eye Reduction, Fill-In, Off) It may be set to 'fill' causing your photos to be too bright.

Also, depending on how close you are to your subject the flash may not be needed. Using the flash when too close to your subject (less then 3 ft.) will cause bright/white photos. Turn the flash OFF if you are taking macro or photos closer then 3ft.

If neither of these fix your problem, turn the flash mode OFF, and camera shooting mode to AUTO and in a naturally well lit area, take a photo, if the photo is still too bright, you may have something mechanically wrong with your camera.

select flash in auto... normally when you turn off the flash. the hand appear...

Try switching to Shutter Prority (S) with a fast shutter speed.If the light is not so good, up the iso to 800 to gain that faster shutter speed..

You do not say the lens in use ? if VR, make sure its switched on or use a tripod.

Since the camcorder returns to the auto shutter setting and the auto exposure setting when it's switched into Night Capture mode, I would say that might be your problem.  Change your shutter and exposure settings. To do this, switch to Camera mode, turn the menu dial to the setting you wish to change then press enter.  You may have to play with the settings until you get the desired picture. Remember, faster shutter speeds for faster action (stop action), and longer exposure settings for darker situations. Let me know if you need more help.

check the flash settings.. it just might be on 'Slow or Rear' flash mode. good luck!

Most probably you have incorrectly set your camera to a Camera Record mode other than Auto.

If there is not enough light and you are trying to photograph the scene without flash, (eg. by setting your camera mode to a mode that is programmed not to use flash) then the camera has to compensate for the missing light by keeping its shutter open for a longer period of time so as enough light comes into its sensor.

If your hand shakes during that time, you get blurry images.

Check your camera settings. The Twilight scene mode gives you slower shutter speeds to capture dark, night scenes, but you need to stabilize the camera on a tripod or something, depending on the level of light of the scene you want to photograph. The Twilight Portrait, on the other hand, is the same as Twilight with the addition of flash is used to illuminate a person or foreground subject as well as capturing a night background. This mode also keeps a long shutter time for capturing the night background.

For taking pictures of people, I would suggest you use Auto or Portrait mode where the camera will automatically use fast shutter speeds and flash (if dark).

The vibration alert flashes when the lighting conditions are poor and the flash is turned off. You can still take pictures in this mode and if teh camera is well stable, the pictures will be sharp. In low light conditions like indoors, turn on the flash or set the camera to Auto mode.

You need to let the autofocus time to focus. Press and HOLD the shutter button HALF WAY and wait for the white rectangle on the LCD display to turn green. Then press the button all the way down to take the picture.
