please help me,i have problem in my printer, wifi on printer can't search .... I too was given the generic "5100" error message just tonight.
Google service error 5100 you need to download the free epson counter resetter, once downloaded install choose your model number & it gives you the choice to reset the counters, do that & you will be printing again.
I had the same problem. all i did was open the printer up and moved
the thing that holds the cartridges to the middle by hand. mine seems
to be working fine.
Tips: #1 Move the cartridge holder back to the right manually, but carefully - close lid and turn the printer off, then on again.
#2 Move the printer cartridge and shut down three times, but it
finally kicked in and started working again. Don't give up just trying
it once.
5100 means the carriage is not moving properly, or there is grease or ink on the encoder strip The encoder strip is the clear strip with black lines behind the carriage that runs all the way across the printer. You can clean the strip with a Q-tip just damp with water.
may be the driver are not installed correctly ... just try reinstalling the drivers ... and make a check that you have inserted the ink cartilage or not ... if not insert it and then give try ... it may work ..
Error 5100 is either a logic board, or the code strip (if that is the problem) is another matter - It is the plastic strip that runs across the printer and through the head carriage, it is supported at each end (one end under spring tension). If it has become dislodged it will give this error, also if it has any ink, grease or other foreign matter on it, it will give errors. You can clean it with a cloth dampened with water but you need to exercise great care to avoid pulling it off its anchors. The other thing to do is clean the stainless steel bar that the carriage sli des on and lubricate it with a cloth moistened with 3-in-1 or light machine oil. If neither of these works then I guess it is repair shop or replacement time
What should I clean this with?
