First unplug the machine. carfully remove the cover on the side of the compressor the get to the start device. Remove the start device. Once removed you will have 3 prongs from the compressor. Using a meter make sure you have continuity between each of the three prongs if you do not then the compressor is bad. If all check good then check each prog to the groud of the compressor or the case, if you have continuity then the compressor is bad. If you have passed both tests then you can try a new start device. after you replace the start device you will want to test the current draw from the compressor to make sure that it is not what is causing your start device to fail.
Note :The compressor is a sealed unit and its life can't be determined. puting a new start device on your compressor is a good idea and most of the time will solve your problem. But if your compressor is the cause of the problem it will only last about 30 days.

Freezer not freezing, and the panel between the fridge and the freezer gets very hot

The condensor fan motor is probably not running. The condensor fan keeps the compresor cooled, if the compresor gets to hot, it shuts down until it cools off and tuns back on, but will not keep temp. Heat exchange lines go in the panel between the doors to serve as a heater so the doors dont freeze shut, but when the compresor overheats, so do those lines. That would be why that panel gets so hot. Both problems will be resolved with a new condensor fan motor ( located by the compresor).

Fan running but dont hear comp. turning on

First check for burned wires in all the componnents in the condensing unit ,also the compresor terminals ,if they're all ok and if you know how and have a tester check the compresor if is not burned or grounded. After that you can replace the capacitor (is no more than $20) and if still won't start it means the compresor is either burned or stock. You can also try to put a start booster in parallel with the capacitor ,sometimes it helps it to start.

Refrigerator compresser get hot and is silent and both fridge and freezer do not work

Hi, compressor will switch off when it get to hot, by over load relay, by why, if your days are hot, or room temp. high, it would do that, unplug let it cool down, then replug it, see if it would start, if it does same thing, after cooling down, locate and check ,or replace capacitor for compressor, usually located near compressor, or your compressor has faulty internal windings, you should replace compressor, or you got low voltage, very commom in summer, use digital volt meter and check ref. receptacle, for precise voltage, a drop in line voltage, could damage or prevent compressor from starting, unplug ref. for 30-40mins, let compresor cool down, and make sure there's good ventilation around ref. then retry, compressor should start, if it didn't, then you shoud replace capacitor or motor overlay relay, located on compressor terminal box, remove cover, and you will see it, i know you're smart, just replace it, remove one wire from compressor terminal and next wire from wire harness, and relace, you can also check compressor winding by using ohm meter, remove wire from compressor terminal put one lead on copper tubing, and one by one, on compressor terminal, if you get a beep (continuity) compressor has a short circuit, you will have to replace, but first let it cool down, could be just another hot, low voltage day, let him cooldown first, and retry him, before you attempt any repairs. good luck.

RUNS BUT WHEN THE COMPRESOR COMES ON IT GOES RIGHT BACK OFF AND WILL NOT COOL. THERE IS A BLACK CYLINDER WITH TWO WIRES PLUGGED IN TO IT AND THEY APPEAR TO BE BURNT. THE SYSTEM WILL TRY TO RUN BUT THEN...

that black cylinder is a capacitor check the mfd rating and voltage rating (ex 30mfd 440v)
and replace it andrepair the burnt wires
if it still doesnt work get a boost capacitor(increases starting torque) and install that to the capacitor

My u line icemaker was freezing water but my iemaker was not working. I just installed a used icemaker, now the compressor and fan work, but no cool. compresor conections dont show leaks, compressor gets...

If the compressor and fan are both running and no cool then you have a sealed system issue. If you just replaced the icemaker assembly and it freezes but doesnt dump then you might have the wrong icemaker or a bad thermostat.

GE AGQ10AJ - Compressor not turning on

Most of the cases when tou heard a click on and off is aproblem with the compresor that goes off on overload, when the compresor try to start and is stuck , burned or the starting coil inside it is open it's overheat and goes off by the thermo bimetal switch. Also could be the capacitor, to check it you need a capacitor tester, but if you don't have it you can try to put anew one (no more than 10 $) and see what happend if still the compresor is getting hot and won't turn on it's burned, jamed or open , and you have to replce it ,if it's less than a year old it should be under warranty but if not is an expensive job and you better get a new unit.

New split system blows only hot air

Assuming it is brand new, are you certain that the compressor does not run at all or is it simply not pumping? Even being new, it is possible that the main compressor capacitor is faulty, this is on the top of the outdoor unit, replace and check.

Microwave don't work

You didnt mention if the oven worked or not. Its not blowing the fuse?? Ok it could be as simple as the Diode or capacitor but dont try to touch the capacitor terminals as it holds a nice charge.. Turn on the oven for a bit with a cup of water inside and let it run for a few minutes. If you start to see smoke pull the plug right away!!!!! If you dont let the water boil(about 2 to 3 minutes thyen unplug and carefully fell around for a HOT part, But dont touch any electrical connections! If theres something drawing to much current it will get hot. Ive had bad capacitors bad and causes the transformer to get too hot. as well as bad magnatrons cause the transformer to get to hot. I would recomend that you take this unit in to be diagnoised as there are alot of voltage in this oven as I ststed before and it is dangerous for a handyperson to be fiddling with it. Good Luck
