88, hi- the problem your describing depends on whether the red keyup light stays on while it's breaking up. I'll give you some possibilities to check as all of these could cause what your describing.
1- A broken audio wire in the mic cord.
2- Dirty mic switch.
3- The mic jack starting to come loose/or has rotated.
4- Circuit board ground screws starting to come loose.
5- Make sure all coax and jumpers are screwed on tight.
Thats about all I can think of right now, one of these is causing your problem.
Hope this helps you out, let us know,, Mechanic

Need to find 2 or 4 watt dead key and modulation I just purchased this radio and it doesn't have any dead key or modulation

You are basically saying that the radio wont transmit, Does it power on at all? Does it have any sound coming out of the speaker when it is on?

Galaxy DX 55HP stopped transmitting, but will receive. When the mic is keyed the power meter goes past max and wont transmit. Tried different mics and no difference

connect to a meter. if there is rf power on a watt meter at full wattage. then the am regulator transistor is bad. less than $5 part.

Have a 99v was talking one nite talking great turn it off then back on no modulation check and change mics.still no mod.what should i look for ?

Check the mic gain.
Make sure it is not in PA mode.
Make sure the mic jack in the radio doesn't have a broke or loose wire.

Those are a few things I can think of based on the information given. More information is needed if these will no solve the problem.

Does it turn on?
Does it key up?
If it keys up is there carrier?
How many watts is the carrier?
Are there any mods done to the radio?
Does it have a roger beep installed? What kind?
Does it have an echo board install? What kind?
Did you do the mod or some one else?
What is your SWR?
Is the display flashing when you key it?
Are the displays lit at all?
Did you disconnect the power cord after you turned it off, and reconnect it?
What channel are you keying up on.
Was/is the case off the radio when you tried it or were you working on it at the time of the failure?
What mics have you tried.
are you using talk back?
did you some one on another radio tell you they do not hear you, or are you going by no swing on the meter in the radio?
Could the meter be bad?

My radio quells back when my mic gain is turn up more than about quater way

sounds like a faulty "MIC" or bad knob inside radio. Your radio may have too much gain. Try using a ordinary straight "MIC" . Some radios are tuned to operate with a straight mic. If you use a "Power Mic" it may be too much gain and cause a squeal. Impedance of the mic must be matched. If its a 500 ohm use only 500 ohm. If its an 1000 ohm use only 1000 ohm "Mics". A straight factory Cobra mic(Coffin mic) has gave me the best performance I have ever used on a Cb radio. I can talk 50 miles on straight mics.

Radio transmits fine but the receive volume is way down. Can hardly hear it with volume turned up full.

If you have talk back in this radio.( you hear your self through the radio when you transmit) then its a good bet that the RX wire in the mic plug has broken off.

The mic switch is responsible for putting the radio into receive mode when you release the key. If the RX wire is broken, the radio will not go into receive.

Normally when this happens you have no receive at all no matter what, but you will have very low sound if you have talk back installed in the radio.

Because of this, if you have talk back in your radio, and the volume is faint even at full blast, its a good bet that its a broken RX wire in the mic cord or plug.

You can attempt to see if the break is at the mic plug. if it is, you can re solder it and it will solve your problem. If you have no clue, then you can just go buy new 4 pin mic.

My galaxy 959 sqeals and does not receive or

mike has wiring problems. Check for breaks in cord and where the plug goes into the unit. If not original mike then has incorrect wiring for the radio and will need to be changed for config

check SWR's check to make sure ALL coax connectors are tight. and if still doing it. may be loose connection in board. but the export style radios go crazy like that when coax is loose or have bad grounds. due to there floating ground circuit design. there not the same as a cobra were its case is ground.

Midland squealing when talking

soundwas keying up at the same time.s like it could be one of two problems. a loose wire in the mic or some one near you keyed up the same time as you. if the wire in the mic is loose sodder it. If some one keyed up near you you might have blown the reciever chip.
