If you can see the fan that is making the noise you may be able to remove it. Once removed you can change it out with a new one. Fans are reletive cheep & pretty easy ro find. Check the spec's of your mainboard. A call to the Mfg would be worth it. You did not list the model & name so I'm unable to check myself. Make the call!

The fan might be misaligned from its location. Turn it off and see any breaks that pushed it or tilted it or something... try to bring it back to its proper place... make a hook to pull it or fix it, see also wires that may got closer to the fan's blades...

Hope that this Fixya your problem.... Don't forget to rate.. Thanks

If your computer is in unclean place (dusty) its fan night not be able to work good and dust can get it stuck. Its not reccomended to clean laptops at home but best bring it to proffesionals.

Restart

Restarts can be connected to Hardware problems in Windows XP in Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup and recovery -> Settings you has radio button Automatic restart. Remove it and probably it will gave you blue screens next time, but there will be no restart any more. Problem with cursor usually because you touch your touchpad when you typing quickly, turn it off if you can, or be more patient :)

My laptop gets heat and shutdown

“My Toshiba laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without any warning. Sometimes it works fine for hours, sometimes it shuts down in 10-15 minutes.” This complaint we hear from our customers over and over again. About 15-20% of all Toshiba laptops we get for repair, suffer from an overheating problem. Yep, OVERHEATING!
This is one of the most common problems with Toshiba laptops we deal with.
Indications of laptop overheating problem:
  1. The keyboard and the bottom of your laptop are very hot when the laptop is working.
  2. The CPU fans are working all the time at maximum rotation speed and operate much louder than before.
  3. The laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without warning. When it just started, the laptop was shutting down after 1-2 hours and how it shuts down after 5-10 minutes of operation.
  4. The laptop works fine when it runs idle, but shuts down as soon as you start using any memory demanding applications (DVD player, image editing software, video editing software, etc.).

Solution:
If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It’s nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.
  1. Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes you have to open the laptop case all the way down.
  2. Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan.
  3. Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air.
  4. I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity.

I was connected to internet and suddenly my laptop turned off

Your processor fan is most likely failing. Try cracking it open and cleaning the fan with canned air. Also, reseat the fan's connector cable.

Gateway W340UA laptop - no display...

Sometimes it di happen , specialy in most laptop which is being used more frequently and longer usage, the advisable use of a laptop is atleast 2 to 4 hours then shut it off and have cool down for 30 minutes to one hour then you can used it again, unless you got a support inclined base for laptop with support ventilating fan to help down minimize the heat accumulated during the usage.

have it check your video card with the proper technician, but first try to cool down your unit and try to open it again, and if still does'nt work then have it check by the service center

Laptop sudden poweroff randomly

I googled "fujitsu laptop forum" and read a couple of posts and it may be an AC input jack problem. If the computer does this without the battery and only AC plugged in then you could assume it's not the battery or charging circiuts. Some laptops get mother board problems but that was not what I read. It wouldn't hurt to go to http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 and post your problem. good luck.

Suddenly a black screen!

If your good with computer or know some one that is, sugggest you to remove the LCD rim, and clean the ribbon filament that is connected to the monitor. Sometimes this filament get's dirty and just need to be clean from a cotton swab.
Another solution is for you to plug in a monitor to the laptop.
