This is best method to check ur monitor is compatible r not all above methods are waste... follow these steps..
first be sure that ur graphics driver is installed properly if possible reinstall the driver and try further methods..
just go properties by right clicking on desktop go to settings go to advanced then come to monitor tab and then check whether the option hide modes that monitor cannot display is marked.. if marked then u must go adapter tab give list all modes there check 1280x1024 resolution is there r not if there means there will different refresh rates in that just select it and give apply(dnt give ok directly).. c if it works means ok otherwise monitor will display out of frequency then wait until u get the screen back then c if there is any tab called intel extereme graphics if so go to that go to graphics properties in that then c the screen area here if ur monitor is compatble means the 1280x1024 pixels will be there select it ,it will surely work keep the refresh rate 60 hz only.. if hide modes that monitor cannot display is not marked means mark it and follow the steps.. this will surely solve ur problem

Well there is another way to increase your resolution with out new drivers. Open Display properties. Click the Advanced button. Click the Monitor tab. Under Monitor settings There is Screen refresh rate. Remove the check mark from hide modes. Click the drop down menu. Change the refresh rate to 75 hertz. Click Ok. You'll be back on your Settings tab. Slide the screen resolution to More. Wow, watch that puppy go!
Pick what you want click Apply & than ok. Just remember most games prefer 60 hertz however after saving your settings if you go back to Advanced & back to monitor you'll see it reset it's self to 60 hertz anyway & you have what you want in resolution.
And the band plays on!
please vote...

It is a matter of driver.
I had same problem once with  a MSI 9550 and same problem with a gecube 1650 pro
install a new version of catalist from ati/amd site or enter in www.guru3d.com
there are the latest drivers.
problem 100% solved with that..
youll be able to work from 800x600 to 1280x1024 if you want.
pay attention to your monitor.
it also need to support this resolution
bye bye

Hi
There is no problem with the video card, for sure... it is the monitor has the limit. 100% sure. I have seen a lot, even screens limited to 800 x 640... Try a different monitor instead... use a 65-70HZ type to achieve higher resolution.

Give me a Fixya on this my friend... Post me more problems if you have.... C ya later.

Hi i have a asus graphics card i dont know what model it is i wont to install it into my other computer as the hard drive it came from is no good

If you examine the graphics card closely you may be able to seel the model number and then you can go to the ASUS WEB site to download the video driver for that graphice card.
If you cannot see a model number then you can use one of these WEB sites that detect automatically what drivers your computer needs and then downloads and installs them.
