Replacing the bobbin case

Took out the bobbin case to clean a thread jam, and tried to replace it according to manual instruction. The needle thread gets caught and breaks every time. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Help!

Thanks. Just tried it, but no luck. Needle thread seems to be consistently caught on screww in front of bobbin.

  • gestalt Feb 05, 2008

    No luck!

  • gestalt Feb 06, 2008

Abssolutely no help. Didn't change anything.

  • gestalt Feb 06, 2008

This is no help either. The winder isn't the problem.

  • gestalt Feb 06, 2008

Thanks, I'll try it and let you know!

Took it to the repair shop. Nothing suggested worked.

1) Use a strong polyester type thread, NOT FINE COTTON

2) Use a low tension,nuber 2 for exanple

3) Always check the threading, if in doubt rethread all the way
from the top bottom making sure you pass roun and not
through thr fixed holder spring.

4) Make sure the thread moves freely with the tension disc held
to the right while pulling the thread through the needle

5) Be very careful that the thread is pulled up from the lower
bobbin correctly and check there is no muddle or stray
thread under the cover

6 Dont pull on the fabric (not thick for beginning) - just guide it

Make sure the bobbin winder has dropped down completely, see if you can see any thread caught under the winder itself, be sure the thread has not gone down the wrong side of the tension disc, that is quite common and providing you have the tensions set properly the machine should not break the thread, at the very worst it could be a timing problem.

Hello,
Remove the bobbin and drop a little oil in the bobbin holder at the center which you usually insert the bobbin...

Happy Fixya... keep me posted on the result....

ok... I was once asked to determine what was causing that same type of problem... After I lubricated the mechanism inside, it went fine, but I forgot to tell you about the needle. If you can do manual slowly watch the needle as it goes to the hole, needle must be at center... if not, then that causes the thread to break. If it is, then you needed to change the needle....

Hope this one helps.... Fixya me if it works...

How do I reassemble drop-in bobbin case for Brothers XL 2600 free arm?

Do you have some pictures of the area involved. I know how to put these things back but I can't think how to explain it to you.. pics might help me show you.

Brother has an outstanding service department, and if you don't have a manual, they should have one. Should have a pic of how it goes together.

My Singer 648 is having a problem with the bobbin thread getting caught up in the bobbin case and jamming the thread inside the case breaking the thread. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks

try changing the needle
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever
try another bobbin
make sure the bobbin is turned the right way in the bobbin case
try rethread the machine top and bobbin
clean under needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint or threads

My Husqvarna diamond top thread keeps breaking while doing loop embroidery. It sews a couple of stitches and then you can hear when the thread breaks. Ive tried changing the needle and bobbin, and cleaning...

Hello

Primary causes of upper thread breakage:

-- misthreading: pull all the thread off and thread again, using the manual, step by step. Read each step aloud before you do it. (sounds dumb, but helps.) (And make sure you thread the takeup lever!)

-- thread has wrapped itself around a thread guide or spool pin from one of the breaks. Take the spool off the machine before rethreading.

-- bad or damaged needle. Replace with the right size for the fabric, turned correctly (backwards needles skip stitches)

-- dirty machine, especially in the bobbin case area: review cleaning instructions and do it, using brush and vacuum only

-- bad/cheap thread: should not be slubby or break easy. Try another spool.

-- top thread tension too tight. 4 is normal for most fabrics, most stitches.

Tips;

1) do a light cleaning (brush and vacuum) every day you sit down to sew.

2) replace the needle if you hear it hit metal, if you've got a really bad thread jam, if you see it deflect as you sew (for instance, sewing over the side seam on jeans when hemming). Replace every 3-8 hours of actual stitching time anyhow.

3) buy good quality thread

4) when your machine isn't sewing right, stop; take all the thread off of/out of the machine (bobbin out of bobbin case, spool off spool pin) and give it a quick cleaning. Rethread from scratch, carefully. If that doesn't fix it, do it again, then replace needle and rethread one more time, manual in hand (yah, even if you've threaded it 8 million times before). #4 is curative about 98% of the time. The other 2% often requires professional attention.

I have a Singer mod 9134 sewing machine. It keeps

Try inserting the bobbin in the reverse direction. Most machines take a bobbin clockwise or counterclockwise and it can make a difference. Also try a new needle, a bad needle is often the problem believe it or not.

Bobbin case case keeps jamming

I am having somewhat the same problem with the exception that my needle did not break. I've cleaned and oil, but the bobbin case and projection positioned spring is not communicating to allow sewing to continue. The thread keeps jamming and the bobbin raises up the plate. So, what else am I to do?
