Question about Fuji FinePix A605 Digital Camera

Fuji FinePix A510, DPC-256 memory, card not initialized msg

I have a Fuji FinePix A510 with a DPC-256 memory card which is fairly new and has worked fine until I came to take it to have the pictures developed, only about 10 on there. I keep getting the 'card not initialized' message. I have looked in the manual but cannot find instructions on how to do this. Fortunately I saved my pictures to iPhoto on my Mac and have them on a memory stick so should still be able to get my photos developed but I would like to carry on using my camera! Please help!

I had to re-format the card losing all the photos but I had saved them in iPhoto so that was ok. I think the problem was caused by me incorrectly closing down after downloading them to iPhoto, so my fault and lesson learned.

After deleting photos from the memory card, it now says "card not initialized", when put back into the camera, none of the functions seem to fix it, can you help?

If your pics are safely on your computer, follow these rules: 1. Never erase pics using the computer...always use the camera. 2. Never remove anything from the computer USB ports without using the "safely remove hardware" function. 3. Now, your card needs to be formatted in the camera.

What if a new memory card wont initialize?

Hi

The reason you are having this problem is that the maximum size memory card supported by this camera is 2GB. Any card with a larger capacity - like your 4 GB card - can not be initialised by the camera.

For reference see

Hope this helps. Please do remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.

FinePix Image Memory Card reader DPC-R1

Usually the filename is how they are sorted, i.e., 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg.... Check on the camera's setup menu to see what method is being used for file naming (for instance, it may be organizing based on date stamp, instead...).
