I have dell gx270 tower pc with 2.6gh procesor(800mh).what higher processr of what specification can it support?

Hello
I did some research into your motherboard for that dell and found that it uses the Intel 865G motherboard. Which uses Intel Pentium IV Socket 478 proccessors.
Any Socket 478 Pentium IV processor will work in that board. the best processor I could find for that was the Pentium IV 3.4Ghz but it was $231..
However, I did find the Pentium IV 3.2Ghz for only $15.99. that seems to be the best deal to me. That would be a fair speed increase, an extra 0.6Ghz or 600Mhz.
Here is the link: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=P43200478&cm_mmc=GoogleProducts-_-CPUs/Processors-_-Socket478(Pentium4)-_-P43200478&utm_source=GoogleProducts&utm_medium=ShoppingSites&utm_campaign=P43200478

Also if you need to get a new heat sync you can search for "Pentium IV Heatsync" or "Socket 478 Heatsync" in google or a sight like newegg.com
Enjoy!

New processor needed

Hi, For Dimension 3000 system here are your options. Pentium IV 3.2 GHz 533 / 800 MHz FSB Pentium IV 3.0 GHZ 533 / 800 MHz FSB Pentium IV 2.8 GHz 533 / 800 MHz FSB but what i'm worried about is the socket where the process goes into. for thermal issues it is expected for the socket to CHIP CREEP. Chip creep refers to the problem of chips that, over time, would work their way out of the socket. Chip creep occurred due to thermal expansion; the contracting and expanding during system heat up and cool down. you might end up replacing the mobo as well.
