Rode NT3 Microphone Stopped Working

We use three RODE NT 3's; one has stopped working.
I checked battery and used the other two and they're fine. This one was taken to an outside venue to record interviews.
We are in Israel and do not have a local Rode dealer to consult.
Are there any standard tests or check we can try to get this mic working again?

    Thanks for the assist.

The mic has a 10 year warranty so it's being repaired but we're buying a new one too

See Battery status indicator by using the batteries of other two mics

else try changing the ON switch

use an phantom p48 power supply and check it. so that you can check if the mic works atleast with that power.

next step you can also change to microphone cable and see. also while connecting to mixer see to that attenuation is set to OFF.

sorry for late reply. you can try all those steps for seeing what the problem is.

if all this is not solving the problem. then i think its time for a new one.

thank you.
all the best

    manual link

also i forgot you to say one thing.

even if you are well versed in electronics i dont recommend you to open it and trying to repair it.
if you want to do it you can do it at your own risk.

thank you. let us know what happens.

Hi
Try this, turn on both the power and the battery of the NT-3 to get it to work... I heard this as the most sensitive mic, in that case if it won't turn-on, then there's a problem with the receiver mic inside, probably needs replacement...

happy fixya...

One more thing... check also the contact points to the battery section... it might need cleaning...

Hi you will probablt find it has beed dropped or banged about a bit as they are usually really good and dont usually break unless they have been dropped or even got wet what you can d is check the battery terminals are good if still no joy then remove casing and check wires that goto the battery terminals failing this their isnt much you can do as you wont be able to get replacement parts because they dont repair these they just replace but check everything you can before you get rid of the unit ok let me know if you need further assistance

Hi sorry forgot something to tell you im not sure with your model number but if it has got a on off switch on mic then you can test the switch to see if this is working ok you will need multimeter if it is the switch you can buy these from any electrical shop just take yours in with you and they give you replacement it does involve soldering but it is really easy to do so if it is a switch problem you should be able to replace it yourself let me know if you need further assistance ok

Problem with recording inconsistencies...

This is a curious problem. Assuming the microphone is the cause, the only solution is to have it repaired.

The other possible cause is the preamp, which would likewise require repair.

My Rode NT1a stopped working. I checked preamps

Repair of this mic is not something you can do yourself. This sort of failure is common, and I can repair it.

Hi, i have a rode nt3 and the mesh head came loose when i was moving interstate. should a dab of glue fix it?

Normally those screw on, but if the part that screws on came loose, best thing to do, is put just to small dabs of supper glue one on each side and that should do it. Mike

My Rode NT1a is not working, I have checked the phantom power and all cables which are ok.

If it is under warranty, I recommend sending it to Rode for repair. Otherwise, I can service any Rode mic. Condenser Microphone Mod Service

My rode k2 di box has stopped working. It powers on but I cannot get the mic to work with the di box. The mic works on my friends k2 di box but mine won't work.

Since I can't find a DI box on Rode's web site, are you perhaps talking about the power supply for the K2 tube microphone? If so, it sounds like you have a powersuply that is broken.

Since you have proven that your mke is working OK, how about the power supply it's self? If you swap your friend's and your power supply, does his mike work?

If so, then you may have a bad input on your mixer. If not, then your power supply is bad. If it is, I would reccomend that you check with Rode about warranty and or RMA repair.

My rode just stopped working, any ideas. It's had a very easy life just home studio work and always put away in it's bag

Possible if used for close mic singing, moisture and spit can get to the capsule, which can eventually damage the capsule. Especially if it is always put away in it's bag after usage. Check your basic stuff like...mic cable, phantom power supply, channel on the console, anything obvious.

NT3 or NT1A?

Either mic will work for piano, vocal and guitar.

Rode NT2-A

No. This is an analog microphone that requires no drivers. Check that another microphone works into the same input (and check that the phantom power supplied at the input meets the NT-2A specs).
