Dactag,
Working backwards now.......The burning smell will be the current limiting resistors near and in the circuit of the IC's
you changed..1 to 2 ohms, 1 or 2 watts.....caused by generic
replacement IC's STK392-110,120 or 150......Here is what to do to FixYa! First, please read some of my solutions for convergence
repairs...any brand, the info is generic, the repair parts are not....
1) REMOVE cheap IC's ! Replace with Hitachi part # CZ 01341
upgrade Mfr by Sanyo STK394-160
2)Replace any / all burnt or changed value resistors
3)Re-test to see any symptom....DO NOT CONVERGE
4)Think about putting the original DCU back, since it was
not the problem .......
5) Now where are we at ?? ............................T.
auntdebbie,
You have a different model with different circuitry and a
different procedure to get to a final repair....please enter
the FixYa system seperately for advice....Thanks,Terry.
dactag,
Burning smell is now an open resistor or an open fuse device
which results in no convergence possible.....caused by bad new
IC's,most likely.......re-read my Feb 16 comment.......T.
Sorry, some details lost along the way.....
Two pins mistakenly soldered together can smoke a resistor..
Re-check your work, look for solder splash..
Check fuse devices protecting plus and minus voltages to run
convergence output IC's...verify they are present
Check fuse near IC's if there is one...
Check EP96,97 in power supply area = pico fuses....small,
soldered in fast-acting fuses........................
Be specific in feedback on what you have done,checked,etc...
....................................................................................T.

Usually answered in minutes!
tried hooking speakers up to my 53SDX01B (older model than yours) and zapped something, now all it will do is same as power button blinking on and off and it tries to start up but does not.
Hello Terryfic and THANKS!! for your rapid response.
1.Yes I have a service manual
2.orig symptom, yellow color giving ghost image and caused blurr
3.dcu part # CS00453R, fault code given by t.v
also replaced I.C's
4.what led's are you referring??!
5.soldered pico fuse???
upon conpletion of the installation of listed parts the t.v started up as usual, the failure occured while setting the convergence, and alsothere was/ is a distinct smell of something hot or burning, no smoke and no glowing wires???? please help...Roger
Although I hav not completed the recommended repairs to the TV,Im confident to award you and your group a pre-emptive,
"cool -man", Thanks
For Terryfic,
Thanks again for sharing your expertise with me. And as result, the tv now comes on full audio and video.
Question? You stated in previous exchange, not to converge...
Well, the picture is quite distorted in color.I made an attempt to converge, but i found that none of the colors will move horizontally or vertically. What da ya think?
Dactag
terryfic,
the smell is gone, no more burn smell, i installed the sanyo ic's
as per your rec. Are you saying they are now bad?
Do you have service manual?
What was the original symptom ?
What is the DCU part # ?
At plug-in, which LED's light....stay lit ?
Have you checked soldered in pico fuses ....E994,etc. ?
Please let me know............T.
