Power malfunction My protron dvd recorder display lights were all flashing, and the  unit wouldn't respond to pressing any buttons.  I unplugged power, and when I re-plugged it in, no display showed, and power will not turn on.  What do I do?

Unit is dead. Power board has 1 bulging capacitor. I have not tried to put power directly to the drive to check it.

I think these are just junk unfortunately. I have tried multiple times with a reset problem on mine - I think these just have faulty power supplies?

I incorrectly entered PAL in video format setting now screen is stuck and says change resol utio n but can not change it need help!!! protron pd-dvr100 dvd recorder

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing as the Video output settings on the DVD Recorder is set incorrectly. Please perform a power resetting by following the below steps and check the operation.
To perform power resetting, unplug the DVD Recorder from wall outlet for more than 5 minutes and press and hold the Power button for more than 15 seconds. It will discharge power from all circuit and move the Recorder to factory default.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if the issue persists.

Panasonic DMR-EZ48V stopped working properly. It seems to have frozen up, but resetting it doesn't get it working again. When I reset by pushing the power button for 10 seconds, it flashes HELLO 15...

My unit is doing exactly the same thing. I've tried reloading the firmware, but it never appears to enter the First Time Setup. To load the CD I had to remove the cover, (disconnect the power) and manually eject the DVD tray. With the cover off, look on the side of the DVD. There is a square hole, directly above the screw that attaches the DVD to the chassis. Insert a stiff rod and push. The DVD tray will open. This is how I loaded the firmware CD. This all started after I rescanned the tuner and then did a manual channel edit. While trying to edit the channels, the unit stopped tuning and ended up in its current state.

Where do I find codes for Protron DVD recorder PD-DVR 100 for a Dish Network remote control

I hope that you have found the codes by now, but if not, here are the codes we have, and also the steps to program that remote.

1. Hold down the clear AUX button until all lights light up at the top of the remote
2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below)
3. Press the # (POUND) button
4. Try powering the DVD on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code

685 is the only code we have for this brand.

Fixed mine by opening up and replacing ide cable to the DVD burner. Was flashing hello. When opened up and touched the ide cable it would spin up the drive for a second. Its possible it was loose connection to the power plug in the drive but replaced ide cable just in case. Has been working perfect since. Very roomy inside and easy to do.

PD-DVR100 DVD Tray will not open

Hi Mikey We are having the exact same problem with our recorder. Don't know if it will work for you, but we turned it off and while it was saying hello, my husband kept pushing the open button and it finally opened. We recorded a movie last nite, and it wont do anything, just keeps flashing PrOce on the player screen. I called the 800 number and he told me to unplug it too, that it would reset itself. It's pretty bad when you spend $300 on something and it only has a 90 day warranty, and then they expect you to just take it to a repair place and have it fixed yourself. We will never buy a Protron product ever again. Guess we just have to go buy a new one, since they wont help on this one. If anyone else has any suggestions, please help us out. Thanks, Becnfiat
