I have exactly the same problem after replacing the bottom LCD screen. I expect the switch. Appreciate getting some feedback what to do.

Thanks for your reply but i already tried this! I didnt notice that there was no insulation on the new screen at first but noticed when i took it back apart after it failed to power up. I will look at it again but any further comment are welcome. Thanks.

Hi, like I mentioned before I had the same problem until yesterday but now I have solved it. The cause of the problem was that the new screen was not isolated on the backside (metal), making shortcuts on the circuit board. I isolated it using isolation tape and now it works great. I think that some Nintendo DS lite may have this problem already from the factory, causing a lot of customer a lot of problems.

Hi, don´t forget the upper edge of lower screen (don´t know if it was the lower screen you have replaced), this edge is close to some capacitors. Also the ribbon cable could need some insulation. Good luck.

My son's ds lite is melted from a short??? won't work at all

perhaps should be a problem with the Ds power supply with overvolt...try to change and test it with another Ds power supply... You said that the ds system is melted...If I were you I would open the Ds to search for damaged parts and try to restore it...or you can buy parts on ebay:

Hi. this issue is normaly caused by bad screen (normaly top screen) or bad assembly in one of two screens, re insert carefully the flex cable again, if your screens are fine this must fix the issue

Touch screen wont respond

double check that both cable/ribbons are connected properly to the motherboard, the small thin ribbon which curls over the top of the motherboard is the one which powers and reads the touch screen so double check this!!
if this is all in fine then im sorry to say your touch screen is broken and will need replacing!

Nintendo DS lite power light comes on but both screens stay dark?

When you boot the Nintendo DS you can change the illumination settings in the main menu.
One the main menu, you will find a sunny symbol in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on that and you should be able to change the level of illumination. If you are also wondering if you can change the brightness during game play, you can't. Games such as Mario 64 DS come with support for brightness change but otherwise you have to do it before game play.
