Question about Heritage (5BTW42MC1SO) 42'' Ceiling Fan

2 Answers

42" Celing fan not spinning.

Problem with Heritage warranty help. I've been waiting for 6 months for another capacitor which they said they were sending me. I've made 5 calls and each time I'm told they will find out what the status is and get back to me. I can't get by the help line, they won't give me another number to call, and the supervisor is in a meeting. I've asked for a full refund on my last call since this one worked only two months and I can't get resolution and yep they will get back to me. So is summer.

I have a 42" Heritage Ceiling Fan that worked fine for several years. But, about a week ago the low speed setting causes the fan to run at a near stop speed. The two higher speeds work fine.

I contacted Kmart/Sears where I purchased fan and asked for help. They offered to replace the fan even though I've had it for several months. Very helpful. It just irks me that I get the run around from Hertiage and they don't honor the warranty. Unable to locate Heritage president or factory on net.

What would you like us to help you with? do you know the value of the cap? if you do you could get one from a electronics store. I, personally, would find the owner / president of the company and let him know the issue and how unhappy you are. You should be able to find the president by going to their web site and looking in the about the company or contact us section. Or contact the Attorney General for your state and report the problem. they will know what and how to handle this problem.

I have a Heritage Celing fan model M42UL. I connected it to work with the remote control. It does not work with the remote anymore. How can I reconnect it to work without the remote?

Make sure your dip switches match in the receiver & transmitter. If you have a wall switch, make sure it's ON. If there are pull chains on the fan, press the high on remote then pull chain until it's on high speed.

While the ceiling fan spin faster than before now turns to slow

Possible that the main capacitor has gone weak or reduced in value. If so the speed will be lower as the capacitor activates the starting coil to move faster.
So check by connecting a capacitor in parallel.

My outside unit fan doesn't spin. i hear a clicking noise and a humming but the fan won't spin. i've tried to spin the fan and it spins freely by hand.

You may need a new start capacitor or fan motor.I would have the capacitor checked by a electrician and changed if needed. Good luck and thank you.

Heatpump fan won't run. No noice, except for the compressor.

I'm assuming you can hear the compressor running. The following answer is based on the assumption that the compressor is running but the fan motor is not.

1. Make sure the motor is cooled down by shutting it off for a couple of hours.
2. Restart and immediately upon restart, try to spin the motor blade in it's normal direction.
After performing steps 1 & 2:
- if the motor starts spinning on it's own, it is one of two things: the capacitor or the bearings. If it is the bearings it is often-times difficult to start to spin the motor manually before it takes off. To check the bearings, turn all the power off to the unit....while holding the motor shaft, try to move it in all directions side-by-side (Not up & down). If the motor has any side-by-side movement, the bearings are bad.
- If the motor does not start spinning on it's own, does not feel difficult to turn at any time during the test and the bearings tested "okay", the problem is most likely electrical such as a wiring problem or failed relay. Check to ensure you have the proper voltage going to the motor. At this point, if you have limited experience with electrical motors and controls, it would be best to recruit help from a qualified service technician. Also, you want to look at your warranty on your unit. Many units today have a 5 year parts warranty; however, they have to be installed by a qualified A/C contractor for the parts warranty to be honored.

I hope this information helps you to better troubleshoot and understand your unit so that you can either continue to attempt the repair yourself or have a better idea of where to go for professional assistance. Good Luck! :-)

LG PTAC, compressor seems to work but fan isn't blowing

LG Has a Technical Service Bulletin for this issue. The original fan motors were too small and the motor windings burnt out. GOOD LUCK getting them to replace it though!! I was told by LG that the TSB extended the warranty so the repair would be covered. I have been waiting and fighting for 2 1/2 months though......they keep sending out the wrong or incomplete parts!! I am ready to go back to Amana or GE Zoneline.

I had 1 long beep, 3 faster beeps, then 2 beeps *I think*, and also my fan was going crazy fast - like someone else said "a vacuum cleaner"...
Well, I reseated the memory and problem was gone - it did seem like the memory was kind of "loose" - perhaps from shipping (bought this used).
The link to Dell's website was good for the beeps AND the "ABCD" codes reading on the back. Thanks very much! God Bless.
