You can get a cheap replacement protective screen at a local plastics company. you will have to cut it yourself with a cut-off wheel and dremel. or you can have them cut it for you. the original protective screen is to expensive to worry about at this age of the set. check the yellow pages for a local supplier for plexiglas/clear plastics 1/8" or 3/32" clear its cheap!!! and all you need is a phillips head screwdriver to replace it.after you remove the speaker grill there are 4 screws on the bottom of the screen frame. then you lift the frame straight up and it comes out. inside there are brackets holding the screen in place. be very careful not to damage the screen.

Testimonial: "Excellent suggestion. I thought about that since we have a good plastics supply near us. Needed to hear a validation from someone with experience. :)"

Diamond Shield for Mitsubishi VS45605

Unless you have small children it's better to just remove the diamond shield and throw it away. Less glare on the screen that way. But if you must have a new one go to a local glass shop and have a piece of plexiglass cut to the dimensions of the old one. We do that all the time and it works fine. Usually runs around $60.00.

Diamond shield

It seems these TV's are going bad right and left. I would look on Craig’s list for a cheap/free 55" Diamond TV. Not sure what you would do with the left over TV. I just picked up a 55" Diamond for free and hope to fix it. If I don’t get it to work, you can have the screen (California).

Where to find replacement Diamond Shield at reasonable price

My Mitsubishi Diamond Sheild also had scratches on it, and I solved the problem at no cost by taking some automotive wax, and hand-polishing the shield with a smooth rag (old t-shirt works great!) Leave it right on the television, no need to take it off.

HINT: Don't leave wax on too long, and just do a small section at a time.
