E210 is a len home position sensor problen. When you turn the copier, the lens should move to the rear of the copier, and left to right also. It is commom for a little gear to break off in the gear box that is on the motor. Good Luck,I have been a service tech for Canon for 23 years.

Error 210 means that the printer scanner hasn't returned in its initial position.

You should see there http://en.allexperts.com/q/Repairing-Copiers-Faxes-1748/Danka-Copier-Canon-NP6551.htm , it may help you.

Cannon 6551 Error message E210

This is most likely the lens motor is not working. The scanner should go left to the home position, then the lens should move all the way left to the lens home sensor and then go toward the rear of the copier to the home position sensor. If the lens doesn't go towards the rear then that motor is bad. There is a problem that the gear that is attached to this motor tends to crack and gives this error. You can see it clearly if you remove the glass. It will ahve to be replaced. It's been so long since I did one of these I couldn't describe how to remove the motor. Good Luck.
