When i put in a full screen dvd it plays great. i use componet cables and never had a problem on my old hdtv.since i got a new hdtv 47in 1080p the ps3 wont play my widescreen dvds it loses its input signal as if the whole system got unplugged or something.do you know what i am doing wrong?

I take it that you have performed the initial set of up the PS3 system
1 If the DVD/Games do not match the region code set in the system it can not be played.
2 When out putting DVD content in SD resolution, only discs recorded in PAL standard can be played. Remove the parental control restriction by increasing the viewer's age.
3 Games with Playstation 3 format software can only be played. Please check this aspect.
Check that the input mode of the TV is appropriate for the connector in use on the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.
There may be a problem with the cable in use. Try using another cable that is compatible with the PLAYSTATION®3.
