Had phone in pocket when I bumped into something. Took out of pocket and tried to clear.. punched some other buttons.. don't remember what...
Have tried everything I can think of.. including taking the batteries out and unplugging the base unit.. (no dial tone) when talk is pushed.
Have de-registrated and re-registrated..
Have tried to reset to default..
Any thoughts on how fix. Has worked well up to this point,, Just needs a clear button..

Re: can't get rid of "LINE IN USE"
Try plugging a regular corded phone into the phone jack. if you have a dial tone there, then you might have broken the phone in your pocket,[ the phone being stuck, broken or shorted into answer mode that's why it's saying "phone in use"

Reboot phone system or pull the jumpers off and re punch down to KSU. Lines need to be programmed a Supervision Disconnect = YES both on phone system and the carrier, call a tech in to do this/check and also put in a repair ticket with the carrier to do same. Supervision Disconnect monitors the lines to when you hang up it knows to release the line. Muck like back in the day you could hangup on that crank caller, pick up the phone a aminute later and he was still there.
If the line button is lit then something within the system has picked it up. If the phone is a multiline set, the line 1 light on the set that is using the line will show green. The line could also be held by either a cordless phone on the system or the voicemail system. The easiest way to clear the line (if the held set isn't apparent) would be to cycle down the power to the phone system for a moment. That will clear the line if its held by the voicemail
To change the time, the code is "feature**time" The password is "basic". As for the line 2 issue...press "feature*0" then press each line button and see if line 2 is programmed on your phone. If it is there, is it programmed to ring? If you can access the line outbound, then you should be able to push the button to answer it inbound. Hope this helps.

Hi, you probably won't get this anymore, but here is the fix (I had the same problem and couldn't get rid of it. Had no messages or calls that I hadn't viewed). You will laugh but press the Clear / Mute button for a few seconds. That is the bottom right button out of the four that are around the big round one. It has a C on it, a line under the C and the mute symbol underneath... Good Luck. Julia
All of the "features" you are having problems with require AC power, I think you have a bad power supply, the plug on the phone is bad or something inside has fried. If you have tried switching the power adaptor with one that you know works then look at the plug in the phone. Make sure the contact is clean and not damaged. If this does not work you may have to replace the phone.
I have repair some cordless phone a lot with your same problem .Your Handset is encountering a left over switch on your buttons what i mean is that the switching is logged. do some cleaning on the carbonized switch of the handset . check if there is moist assembling on switches if none try to clean the carbonized switch and keypad with alcohol cotton buds try also to swipe out the worn out carbon on the switch. if these wont help . your handset might have component damage already like an IC defect . that is why your phone wont work . It is best to bring you phone to the manufacturers service shop.
There is no way to clear the settings you would have to re-program the correct setting. Did you program one touch speed dial on the line buttons? I do not see how programming a speed dial could effect accessing the CO lines unless you re-programmed the CO line buttons by mistake. If so, you would need to re-program those soft keys to line buttons.
The manual you have may not cover this? The phone you have can work on a few different Panasonic phone systems. If you need a more detailed manual you will first need to know which Panasonic phone system you have. The phone part number WILL NOT help you determine which phone system you have. There is a main control unit somewhere (basement, utility closet, etc..)
