    I have the same TV with the same problem. I bought mine at Costco in 2005 (before they changed their return policy on TVs). I don't have the original box or receipt, but I called Costco and they said that they will allow me to return the TV for a full refund.

I took the unit completely apart and reassembled it, making sure to check all harnesses. I have been running the TV since I put it back together and it has been fine so far (3 hrs.). I was hoping that it was just a loose harnessToshiba 20hlv15 image turns bright colors and will - 4.gif when taking the unit apart. Although, I did not note a loose harness. The dvd player went wacky by just having the harness slightly off. I will run the unit some more and post my findings. I have to say I'm surprised that this is not a more common problem considering there are numerous people with this particular unit with the same issue. Also, just a note the unit was very clean inside, no dust issues, no blocked cooling ducts.

    Still running great...

    I have to say that this was an effective fix to just take the unit apart and remove all harnesses. One of two things happened.

    1. There was a harness that came slightly loose.

    2. There was a static charge in one of the boards that was released by unhooking all of the harnesses.

    This unit is quite complicated and should not be taken on by a novice. But, with that said I would like to let others know that this is not an expensive fix.

Sounds like a bad connection in the set and the heat from being on causes the connection (wherever it may be) to open, causing that colors circuitry to stop working. This is most likely something that can only be fixed by someone who can actually get their hands on the thing. Sorry, but I don't think anyone online can help with this problem.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice, good OR bad.

Good luck!

Trutech Digital Photo Frame

Image quality using default factory settings is awful. Colors are over-blown, faces are washed-out, and highlights are cropped. People on the internet compained that there is no brightness control -- there is..but its hidden in a menu. Press the Setup button on the remote and move to the "System" settings. I've found these settings produce a fairly correct balance of color, detail, and brightness:

* Brightness=5
* Contrast=1
* Saturation=2

I have a Toshiba 20hlv15 tv that I got from a friend. When I put any dvd in, even a brand new one, it says "reading" and then always says "no disc" . Is there a setting that needs to be adjusted to make it...

the problem is that the laser reader in the dvd player is too dirty to read the disc. you need to purchase a laser disc cleaner they range from $ 5. and run it in the dVd several times until the lazer is clean enough to read the disc

best of luck

Until the point where you can see the retrace line disappears, just before cutoff.
2. Turn the red screen control on the Focus Block until retrace lines appear and gradually turn it back
Until the point where you can see the retrace line disappears, just before cutoff.
3. Turn the blue screen control on the Focus Block until retrace lines appear and gradually turn it back

4. If the screen still appears too bright after proper G-2 adjustment, you need to adjust the sub-bright adjustment in the service menu
control down until screen cut-off. (Service data Range is usually 21 to 25 in the Service menu, for Sony sets you first go to category "MCP2", & then adjustment item 01( "SBRT")= subright.
For electrical the focus, put on the screen a clear picture of your choice thru an input of the TV set from a DVD, then pause the playback of the DVD Look into each color and rock that color focus control back and forth (turn the control one way then the other way slowing down as the picture goes into the best focus. till the picture looks sharp do each color till they all look in focus. NOTE: it is best to look into each color tube to achieve the best electrical focus. For optical focus please follow the manual lens adjustment in the sets service manual

Flyback transformers usually have 2 adjustable rods - 1 is for focus the other is for screen (G2) voltage. try turning Clockwise the Screen adjust with brightness-contrast at max. Till you see white diagonal lines, then go back until the lines disappear - then tune the brightness to your desired level.

Color "burn" in corner

well i think this is caused by a magnetic field created by your speaker. is the speaker the same location for that color burn (lower left corner)? the only way to get rid of that is to remove your speaker or changed it. for all i know speakers used in tv's are magnetically shielded to prevent distortion in the CRT, because their location is usually near the crt. good luck!
