Question about Canon EOS 40D Digital Camera

2 Answers

Canon 40D This is my second 40d the auto focus has failed on both. The first time I returned it, now it has happened again, but I took the battery out and did a reboot and it began working again. This has happened twice. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm having the same problem- unless I focus manually, very few images are crisp :(

Try taking the battery out and putting it back in. If that doesn't work try cleaning the len's contact sesnors with a pencil eraser.

Auto focus not working

The lens AF mode is not working. What lens is it you are using?

It is not a camera issue but a lens issue. Try a different lens to be certain.

I think this might be a firmware issue.www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=17779#DownloadDetailAct
Here is a link to Canon's website for your 40D there you will find the latest firmware version for your camera. Version 2.0.0 which includes 1.0.8 . In 1.0.8 item #3 in the list of changes it states repairs a phenomenon where reviewed images appear unnatural.
