Re: LD refridgerator icemaker not making ice
I personally have never heard of your particular model ( LD ) - bearing in mind that most fridges with these types of added extras should be somewhat similar, on one i looked at - they have small electronic valve that should open and close on demand, but as with most valves and the quality of water available in some areas, they do sometimes fail to open on demand ( ie: when the tray tips over, the valve should open to fill the next tray ) - being blocked, or faulty would prevent any water from running in.
I myself have not worked on these types of appliances much recently, and technology changes all the time, so it could be worthwhile to have either:
A repair center come take a look at it for you.
Allow time for a second solution to be offered by other fix ya experts.
Now people with more relevant experience in these areas may also tell me i don't know what i'm talking about, and rightly so, but this is just one solution offered and i can't always be spot on, especially if the make & model is not specified.
In my opinion, usually a little expertise can go a long way and save some hard earned dollars also, so bearing in mind - sometimes we have little or no option but to place ourselves at the mercy of repair centers, who just so happen to deal with these kinds of problems on a daily basis.
a 6ya Repairman can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

it sounds like your water valve is bad. you have a double water valve - one side operates the ice maker and the other side operates the water dispenser. the ice maker side of the valve is bad.
you can manually pour a little water in the ice maker ice mold and wait an hour or so - if it dumps the ice then you know for sure that the ice maker is cycling and water is not getting to the ice maker from the water valved
Most of the time it is the half of the dual water control valve on rear of refrigerator. The part number Click Here=> WR57X10032 Usually the coil on that side will go bad before buttons or controls. You can test that side by setting a test meter on AC voltage and you should read 120 volts while someone presses dispense water on front. There are two sides one plugs into icemaker side and other water dispenser. When replaced they both come as a kit. Pour about 2/3 cup of water into icemaker . If it freezes and does not dump , replace the icemaker . Check to make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc . If it does dump , and does not refill with water , replace the water inlet valve ( piece behind refrig where the wall water line connects to on the fridge ) . Check to make sure the fill tube that fills the icemaker is not blocked with ice , still indicating a bad water inlet valve ( slow seep ) .
I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.
verify the water supply to the valve first, second verify valve to icemaker works(unit has dual valve at rear bottom of fridge, switch plugs, then press water dispenser and see if icemaker fill with water ) if fills icemaker is bad , if not valve is bad. replace one or the other.
