It's a standard satellite cable that was installed. What's weird is that after 1 day, it has worked well and has not gone out. We think it may be a faulty satellite cable. do i need to request cable made for HD? Again, I am very ignorant when it comes to this.

tvray, when I received tv, I did initial setup and after it scanned channels, went black with sound only. Could not change anything. Couldn't go into menu at all.

Its working ok now, This is my 4th TV from RCA in the last 8 months, that is why i am worried.

    thanks for any input

Are you using sat or cable? if you are using a cable box or sat, you don't need to do a channel search - this is only used if you are running cable or antenna directly to the TV. as tvray points out - try using the red/white/yellow. The box will actually change the channels, just make sure the TV is on the correct input for where you plugged the cables.

Sound like the cable box is the problem, also try connecting the TV to the cable box by either the yellow, red, and white connector of the component purple, green, blue

How can I set up with my lcd Sony tv

If your home theater receiver has a digital optical input, run a digital optical cable from digital optical OUTPUT on TV to digital optical INPUT on receiver. If receiver is older and only has analog inputs, you can get an 1/8 inch to RCA cable(red/white), and plug 1/8 inch side to an output on back of TV and plug RCA side to aux input(or CD or cassette input) on back of receiver. DO NOT PLUG INTO PHONO INPUT! Either one of those cables can be found at Walmart, radio shack, or best buy, etc. Digital Optical cable is definitely the best choice, but I just used the 1/8 to RCA setup to hook up a Sony led to my brother's early 90's Pioneer receiver(not the ideal setup, but will work). Hope this helps.

Can not figure out how to hook the rca system to the tv and satellite receiver,he either gets a picture or sound, can't get both. the user manual we had is very worn and can not be read anymore. can...

The all time best way to hook up the system would be, depending on TV's input output connections, would be hook the satellite receiver directly to TV input, best being HDMI, second being component video(in this case you would use separate audio cable(s), either digital optical, or RCA. Then provide audio out from TV to reciever using digital optical or RCA. You can try to pass video through the reciever however, it is not your best route and you may get a lag between video and audio. Make and model numbers would help in this situation.

60" RCA TV

The tuner in RCA is a known issue. I recommend connecting the satellite with RGB (Red-Green-Blue) component cables and red/white sound cables and use video. The picture will be better. The tuner repair can be pricey $$$

LCD TV IS CONNECTED TO CABLE USING SATELITE. CABLE IS RUN APPROX 150 FT FROM SAT DISH TO TV. RECEPTION IS VERY GRAINY,,,IS IT THE LENGTH OF CABLE? THE CABLE IS 100FT CONNECTED TO 50FT CONNECTED TO TV....

Is the satellite receiver HD or standard?
If it is standard you should hook up the box to the tv via RCA cables (Yellow/Red/White) and this will help with the picture quality.

If it is a HD receiver then hook up the box to the tv using a component video cable and this will drastically change the quality of the picture.

Using a coax cable to attach from the box to the tv essentially is connecting an analog signal to the tv and this will produce a lower quality picture...

Good Luck!!

MY RCA TV.

Try resetting the TV.
Unplug the TV for an hour. Plug it back in.
If that doesn't work, the power board for the LCD screen may have gone out or the video circuit board may have gone out.
It's best to find out by taking it to a repair shop to find the real problem.

Proscan tv surround sound hook up

This depends on whether you have digital cable box or not. If you have a Digi Cable Box look for the red/white RCA output and connect this via RCA cable to the Red/White Audio input on your surround.

If just Basic Cable look for a red/white audio output on the back of your televison. connect this to the Red/white in on your surround. Could be called tv in or auxillary.

Hooking up video

I am assuming that you are using a surround sound system? If so on the back of the satellite receiver you will have RCA cables labled yellow ,red, white uuse an rca cable to run from the output on the back of the sat box to an rca input on the surround sound unit.the inputs should be labled on the back of the surround sound unit.once you have the sat box plugged in look for the output on the surround sound (rca cables) run one set of rca cables to the rca cable input of the Tv.on the original tv remote select the tv input that is the cable from the surround sound is plugged in to . make sure the surround sound unit input is selected to the input that the sat box is plugged into.this will give you surround sound from your satellite receiver, repeat with your DVD player plugging the DVD rca cable output to another empty input on the surround sound.to switch between the sat box (satellite TV) to DvD select another input on the surround sound unit.Try to correspond the units you are plugging into the surround sound to the correct name of the component on the back of the surround sound unit to avoid confussion.any questions,Im here to help.If this works rate me FIXYA! if it helps.GOOD LUCK!
