Vista Cannot locate the Drivers for this device

Hi, just bought this Webcam and ran CD which loaded OK. At the end of the installation when I plugged the camera in via USB, Vista asked me to search for the driver for this device. After a few minutes it stated that it could not locate the drivers from the Computer, please install the CD that came with the Camera. Again it searched the CD for the drivers and states it cannot find the drivers. it then directs me to the microsoft download for this camera. I have downloaded the drivers from Microsoft', then when prompted plugged in the camera. Vista then tells me that it is unable to locate the drivers directly from Microsoft!!! It seems that something is blocking the drivers from within vista itself..Any advice would be very aprreciated....Thanks
Ian

Hi
That's the problem with vista... it's still young they are still developing too many drivers needed to support new and old products.

But try this link it should help you a lot...<Driver Download> and post me back the results, it's a downloader of drivers developed from Vista....

I'll wait...

Outside of keyboard and mouse, I would detach all usb peripherals. Also, launch the drivers, and walk through installation. When your computer seeks drivers, it will look for them on your Main directory/volume, unless its a windows executable file.

Make sure whatever device you are installing drivers for IS NOT connected while drivers install, and do not connect the cam until you have restarted.

The product does come with tech support for 30 days, and if you are running Vista, the software and or computer ( if it came bundled ) includes tech support as well. You maybe outsourced. This is far from the forst time windows has done this, actually their own ZUNE player was not compatible with VISTA when it was released.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

You seem to have done everything possible to make this camera work and yet the problem persist. If the camera is Vista compatible, then the problem is somewhere else and you're right, it is Vista itself..

May I suggest another method rather than concentrating on the driver. Update your Vista (not the driver) to all patches particularly USB ports. Vista had been known to have issues with USB. A particular patch/update/upgrade has been issued to address this particular concern. It may be downloaded from here or here.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Check the manufacturers website if they have a different, or updated patch for these drivers. Also, try uninstalling the USB Device via the hardware wizard, and restart the computer. Then follow the Found New Hardware wizard's instructions, to reinstall the USB Device. Then Try to reinstall the drivers from the CD using the same method.

How to begin using webcam

On Windows 7 and Windows 8 you can usually just plug in the webcam and wait a few seconds for Windows to automatically install basic/generic "driver" software which allows the webcam to work. You can check if the webcam is recognised and installed by going to Control Panel/Device Manager. In the Device Manager window locate and click on "Imaging Devices" to see your webcam listed. If there's a yellow exclamation point (!) or nothing listed under Imaging Devices then the webcam is not installed. In this case unplug the webcam, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in and see what happens.
With some webcams you must install software and drivers BEFORE you plug the webcam in. In that case, unplug the webcam then install drivers from a CD included with the webcam or download the drivers from the maker's website and install them. Make sure to choose the driver version specified as compatible with your version of Windows. After installing the drivers, restart the computer and wait for it to boot up fully, then plug in the webcam and see if it works.
One last possibility is that your webcam is too old to work with newer Windows versions. For example, we have an old Kodak DVC325 webcam which worked OK in Windows 98, ME, and Windows XP with SP1 and SP2, but it does NOT work in Windows XP with SP3 or any newer Windows version. Too bad, really, because it's a darn good little webcam!

Veo webcam compatability with windows vista

Hi

The general install procedure for USB devices is to install the drivers/software first then connect the device. The PC should then detect and initialize the device.

I however recommend you check and follow manufacture's guidance/steps.

If you don't have the drivers/softwrae, download the drivers/software from the link below.

Nero Image - http://www.nztechie.com/downloads/ISO/VeoInstallCD.nrg
ISO Image - http://www.nztechie.com/downloads/ISO/VeoInstallCD.iso
NB: About 154MB. You need to extract the CD Image file or burn it to CD using appropriate software.

The install CD claims compatibility with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. It should be compatible with Windows Vista when compatibility mode is used.

Creative webcam nx pro driver for windows vista 64

When you don't have the drivers-cd:
- Download the XP-drivers of your webcam (and unpack them if they are zipped).

Else start with these steps
1. Uninstall whatever webcam driver you have previously attempted to install.
2. From the device manager, scan for new hardware, and your webcam will be recognized and will continue to search for a driver.
3. If asked for for further search.. choose the place where it must search (cd or your downloaded driver-map)
4. Just allow the prompts to continue with the installation.
5. When the driver is successfully installed, you can test it right away.

Goodluck.

Creative Webcam Instant drivers for Vista

My wife has a new computer with Vista on it.  I tried to plug in my Creative Webcam Instant into it, thinking there would be no problems.  Turns out that Creative doesn't support Vista for a couple of its webcams.  I fixed it, though, and now there's no problems.  What you have to do is take advantage of a couple of Vista's less-obvious features.  Put the Creative CD in.  On the CD (not in a folder on the CD), there's a setup.exe.  Right-click it and select "Properties".  On the "Compatibility" tab, enable the option to run it in compatibility mode for XP SP2.  Then also check the "run as administrator" option, just for good measure.  After that, it will install just fine (otherwise, the Creative installer tells you that it doesn't support your version of Windows).  Then, after it installs, find the program's executable.  It should be in the relevant program files folder (if you're not sure, hover over the webcam center shortcut in the start menu, and see where the program is actually located).  Do the same thing for the program executable (right-click, compatibility tab, enable compatibility mode for XP SP2, enable running as admin for good measure).  If it doesn't work for you after all that, I don't know what to tell you.  It works just fine for me now (it didn't want to otherwise).

Drivers and Vista

This fix will work for all of the VEO Stingray problems because it gives a good driver download site and it tells you step by step how to get your cam to work with VISTA Good Luck and let me know if this fixed your problems.

1.Go to this site and download the driver you need: http://www.softsci.com/veodrivers.htm

2.Download it to your desktop

3. Don't unzip, install, or plug in your cam yet

4.Search for this in your start menu: Program Compatibility Wizard

5. Of the three choices click the one that says look for the program manually

6. Choose the option for XP

7. Choose the 680 x 420 or whatever it is not the 256 colors

8. Choose to run as administrator

9. Click next and it should change your screen to a real big resolution and then it will start to install the driver

10. Go through the install wizard

11. After it has loaded plug in your camera

12. Try a program that it is supposed to work with

13. Finish the Compatibility Wizard

now everything should work for your cam.
This works with all of your programs that vista will not run.
