I have a Sony DSC-W50 Cybershot camera that won\'t take pictures or videos anymore. It powers up fine and the screen works, but when I hold down the shutter button all the way, it focuses and nothing displayed
when I turn the power on screen is blue with "access" message. after a few minutes, message is replaced with "turn power on and off". I have removed and recharged battery but keep getting the same message and other functions of the camera will not work.
thats normal. it just doesn't have enough power to bring the lense back in. once you charge your battery and turn it on the lense will automatically come back in and then out for you to take a picture.
This is what sony cameras do when the lens has become jammed. There are multiple different reasons that the lens can jam but the result is the camera being unable to move it as expected and presenting that error message.
Sometimes the lens can be manipulated gently (if extended at all) and freed from the jammed state. Failing this, disassembly is required.
Check with your manufacturer for warranty service status and recalls. If they will not cover it you can find a repair provider online.
Advance Camera Repair
resoldering the focus motor contacts on the lens unit might be the solution.
Replacement of the optical (lens) unit is the ultimate solution.

Green, I spent some time today with a sony tech rep on line. We went thru the motions of battery, memory card and still no help. So I'm sending my camera back to sony for repair. Mine is still under warranty. Hopefully yours is too. Good Luck. Mike aka m1stones1
