Hotpoint washer won't drain water out

My hotpoint model number WLW3400SBLWH won't drain out the water when it spins. This happened a few years ago and a repauir man fixed it in 5 minutes. A sock was stuck in the drain tube. Can you tell me how to check for that?

I have a top loading hotpoint and a feather blanket broke open and the washing machine would not drain or spin.

I had to empty it by hand(syphon and scooping), then unplug the washing machine and un hook the drain pipe and water hoses. I then tipped it over and unsrcrewed all the screws to find the pump. There should be a black hose going into it. You must take that black hose off by loosening the clamp. Once I took that off I could see the pump completely clogged with feathers. I removed the feathers and hooked everything back up. It took me about 25 min to do the entire process.

hope this helps.

THIS FIXED MY OLD WASHER!!! I did exactly as you said. Mine was full of polyfill, I washed a cat bed and it came apart in the wash. Totally clogged. Took the back off, took the black thick hose off, smelly polyfill was clogging both the hose AND the pump fan-looking thing. You saved me having to buy another washer. Thank you.

I had the exact same problem, My Dogs bed ripped open and the washer would not drain and the pump would just hummmmmm... basically on its way to burning out or starting a fire. I manually removed all the water, tipped it on its side and removed all the screws from bottom and lower back. I could not get the front area to come off so I basically folded the aluminum out of the way, removed the pump... took the 3 screws off and took out all the stuffing... AND DO NOT FORGET TO HOOK UP THE 2 WIRES BACK TO THE PUMP OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START ALL OVER AS I DID!!!!

Clothes wet after spin

Hi, if clothes are wet after spinning, check.......
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning: If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine. If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag), a worn clutch (GE/Hotpoint), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component. Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

Same problem

Power it off at the mains for 60 mins and then rety. If it still does the same then call in a repair man as it is most likely thatthe main controller board is faulty and needs replacing.

Hotpoint wma37 washes clothes ok but wont drain or spin

the hotpoint has a saftey factor built into it if the water does not drain it will not spin , the fault is the pump is blocked or broke or the sump hose is block this leads into the pump

to fix take the drain hose the grey one and put it in to a bucket and it will empty the water

if not the sump hose is blocked

if it emptys lie the machine on its side if poss with power off , if it will not lie on its side disconect the water hoses

look under the machine u should see the pump and the sump hose u can remoe this hose put lots of old towels down to catch the water check in side the sump hose for blockages

the pump this on the new models has hex bit screws on it to open check to see if it move freely it should spring back slightly

try this any problems let me know the model number

Hotpoint FFS70S fridge drain pipe blocks with FROST in a few days after clearing. I suspect that the drian pipe is too close to the freezer compartment. Is this a common problem. More to the point, is...

I have the same problem. Engineer said most likely problem with insulation and since pipe is moulded onto the back, it cannot be fixed easily. Defrosting is a temporary solution only. Luckily I kept extended warranty going, they are going to replace it with a new one.

Drain hose is kinked or
Improperly connected on it.

Solutions

• Straighten drain hose and make sure washer is not sitting

Let me know if these measures help.
