Playback sound quality

All of a sudden the playback sound is of very poor quality. I went back to previous tapes to insure that is the playback and not the recording quality. The sound is faint- not much volume and is garbled. I have performed the head cleaning twice but no change.

Am not an expert in camcorders but the followiing may help.

1. Looked all over the internet for specificatons....zilch except the mfg for $22.

2. The flat rate repair charge is (per one user) $269 at the mfg's.

3. If you are in warranty you could be lucky.

4. Cleaning heads can, more often than not in my experience, if using one of the automatic routines, cause a problem. I suggest (and you might want to ask what a local VCR repair shop does) a spray bottle of alcohol and pressurized air. An old perfume bottle will work.

5. You least expensive solution is your local VCR repair shop. Have a discussion with them first...call around a bit an dgo with someone who 1) probably indicates it's not a significant problme and 2) Sounds like he or she is reasonable logical. Heads are one of their easiest jobs (and a significant portion of their income). Why...because it's a mechanical part. Not solid state. Your problem is obviously mechanical. Also, if the head is bad it's possible they may be able to order the part.

Hope this helps...Tango

Hi,

This is often caused by mixing brands of tape. Do not use head cleaners more than absolutely necessary. More than half a dozen times or so, and heads are toast.

Use quality tapes of the same make/length, from new, and you will be fine. (the coatings on the tapes vary, and can/did interact with each other.)

If you have any other problems please ask me.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate me as fixya..

Quite often just the one clean won't dislodge the gunk built up on the
heads. Make sure you use a new wet system head cleaner and you may have
to run it a few times to clear the clog. JUST DON'T USE COTTON BUDS OR
    WOVEN RAGS.

Hi,

Initially, could you please try playback with a headset or the audio out hooked to an amp or TV? Once done, if the sound quality/level is as should be then it is the internal speaker (if it's got one) that is the issue, if not then it could be the audio circuitry which is often a small op-amp that would have to be looked up. In some instances, it is the 2.5mm (TRS) jack that might affect audio quality since it is a changeover switch also (internal to external). Spraying with contact cleaner should be a temporary remedy.

Hope this be of initial help. In the meantime, would be looking back into my notes and see if anything resembling your problem in the past comes up.

Good luck and kindest regards.

Based on your recent post of "Not much help" I will assume that you have tried:
    1. headset or external amp;
    2. contact cleaner;
    3. you have tried all posted solutions and workarounds and
    no positive result.

This then would confirm what the other have posted that internally it may be the cam's audio head.

Your best bet then perhaps would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

I have a Yashica,Samurai Video 8 KX-77 Video Camera Recorder when I playback the picture rolls what can I do ?

If you are experiencing issues with the playback on your Yashica Samurai Video 8 KX-77 Video Camera Recorder, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Clean the playback heads: Use a head-cleaning cassette or a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the playback heads. Dirty heads can cause playback issues and poor picture quality.
  2. Check the tapes: Ensure that the video tapes you are trying to play are in good condition and not damaged. Inspect the tape for any signs of damage or deformation that could affect playback. If the tapes are damaged, you may need to try a different tape or have the damaged tapes repaired.
  3. Adjust the tracking: Use the tracking control on the camera recorder to adjust the playback tracking. The tracking control helps align the playback heads with the tape tracks for optimal playback quality. Experiment with adjusting the tracking to see if it improves the picture quality.
  4. Test with different tapes: If possible, try playing different video tapes to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is specific to certain tapes or if it is a broader issue with the camera recorder itself.
  5. Seek professional service: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to seek professional repair or servicing for the camera recorder. Contact a reputable camera repair shop or the manufacturer's customer support for assistance.

HP1020 fax answer phone etc

Digital answer phones record the message on a memory chipset in the same way old tape machines did using a magnetic support. Quality can only be improved by the technology itself, problem is with your specific machine.
If you have a broadband filter try replacing it.
Test the machine on a different phone socket and see if it makes any difference.
Check on your answering machine settings, you should find an option to control volume.

Play back on jvc video movie GR-A1E distorted

It is possible that the heads in your JVC video camera need cleaning, especially if the playback picture looks distorted and similar to a VHS tape played on a player with dirty heads. Dirty or worn-out heads can cause playback issues, including poor picture quality, distorted images, and tracking problems.
To clean the heads in your JVC video camera, you can try the following steps:
  1. Purchase a head cleaning cassette: You can find head cleaning cassettes online or in electronics stores. Make sure to get one that is compatible with your JVC video camera.
  2. Insert the cleaning cassette: Open the tape compartment on your JVC video camera and insert the head cleaning cassette. Close the tape compartment.
  3. Run the cleaning tape: Press the play button on your JVC video camera to run the cleaning tape. The cleaning tape will clean the video heads as it plays.
  4. Eject the cleaning tape: Once the cleaning tape has finished playing, eject it from your JVC video camera.
  5. Test your tapes: Try playing your tapes again to see if the picture quality has improved.
If cleaning the heads does not solve the problem, it is possible that there is a more serious issue with your JVC video camera.

Tape playback on Magnavox MWR20V6

When was the last time you ran the "head cleaning" tape in the machine? As tape collects dust and dirt - it gets deposited on the recording and playback heads. This ruins playback and recording quality. Also, since tape is magnetic - they tend to magnetize the heads, too (just like reel to reel, 8 track & cassette player / recorders). Demagnetizing them will help too. Here are links to both products:

Distorted sound on playback, samsung mini dv camcorder.

Try a DV tape cleaner first. If that doesn't work, see what it would take to get the audio heads realigned. Any camera store can do that for you.

AUDIO

Hey Tex

You are on the right track, sounds like a noisy volume control. Can often be repaired with a squirt of cleaner spray into the potentiometer assembly. But I suggest you use crc2-26 contact lubricant spray, not silicone spray which is a great materials lubricant, but not electrical. Worst case, the Vol Potentiometer, may have to be replaced. Go for the CRC first and see how it goes. Good Luck, happy FixYa

No Sound

The camcorder may be in what may be called "narration mode." This function mutes the playback audio so you can narrate with you own voice when playing tapes back. Check for a function like this in the playback sound menu.
