Go to Lexmark web site and type in your model and they should give you a free down load for your drivers. Most companies have the drivers to down load. Hope this helps.... Darren

According to the specs, this printer connects to the computer using an USB cable. The only reason it could be asking for an IP address if it is connected to a network card or attached to a print server. OR the wrong print driver is installed.
What you are looking for is commonly referred to as drivers. You can go to the Lexmark website and click on the link titled downloads. You will then be at a page where you will be asked to put your model number. Two things you are going to want to now before you start this process. 1) What is the whole model number of your printer. e.g. (x2500, cri2500, etc.) 2) What operating system doesn't the computer use that you are trying to connect this printer to.
The site should also include instructions on how to download and install.
Go to the Lexmark website and download the quickstart guide and user manual for your x2500.Read it, then you will have the answer to all your questions. You can download the driver AND other software for your printer, and after installation, your printer will be recognised by your computer. You may not even need the driver, as the later operating systems, ie. Windows XP, include drivers for most printers.
Are you attempting to reinstall the printer onto the same computer as before with the sdame operationg system? I have included the Lexmart download webpage for your printer product for Xp .
I woudl first uninstal the printer(in software through the copntrol panel add printer page) Next after downloading the new software/driver that I pointed you too, install the printer.
PS if you cannot access the printer through the control panel start the computer minized(blue screen)
