Question about HP PSC 2175 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Carriage Jam I just posted another question about this same thing, but I just noticed something different. When the ink carriage is to the left and tries to go to the right, it is stopped by a curved black plastic piece that has something to do with the paper. There are 2 of them that lift up when it's trying to print. The left one is actually slightly bent because the carriage keeps trying to get passed it. Any idea's on how to get it to go passed it? I think that's what it means by "jam".

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam

  • Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
  • Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
  • Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Clear carriage jam -hp d7460

Carriage jam usually comes from ink on the clear encoder strip that runs across behind the carriage. You need a damp Q-tip to clean from one end to the other, The other thing, on the HP is the cleaning station on the right gets gummed up with old ink and won't go toward the back fully, stopping the carriage.

Carriage jam on HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One

We have several of these in our company and the most common "Carriage Jam" cause is a glob of black ink in the bay on the right side. Once glob is removed, and "Carriage Jam" message appears again, press OK, and it prints fine from then on. Today the black ink glob was flat on top. Watch out for leaky cartridges, as the design of the particular HP device provides a nice catch pan for the tri-color ink cartridge, but not for the black one, so a leaky cartridge, besides being expensive and wasteful, can goop up the bay causing the carriage jam error message to try to get you to take a closer look.

Carriage jam

I had this same problem with an HP2355v. There is a carriage directly below the print heads (on the right side of the printer) where the ink is dumped during the cleaning process. The carriage needs to be able to freely move (fore and aft). I noticed that my carriage was really gummed up on the left side of the carriage. I cleaned the edge of the carriage and the channel where it travels with alcohol and qtips. The carriage now moves with minimal effort and the error is fixed! Good luck.

Error message: Open door, clear carriage jam and then press enter

Our support works this way. You will receive an email notifying you that there has been a reply to your post, such as this. You read the post, enter your comments in the Comment Text Area Below and you'll get another email when there is another reply.

I will ask you to do one thing, await your response and then give you further instructions.

First of all, with the printer on, and leaving it on, open the cover to the print carriage area. Now, reach over to the right under the cover of the printer and pull the ink carriage to the center.

You will want to use a flashlight to examine the area around the carriage bar for an obstruction. Common items are pencils, pens, paper clips. Additionally, the ink cartridges themselves may not be firmly locked down in place. You may notice this when you reach under and over to grab a hold of them and drag them over to the center.

Should you be able to get this carriage over to the center, check that the cartridges are lock down and nothing is lying in their path on the far right hand side. A flashlight will help you.

Worldvet

'Carriage jam' error always seen on power on

The cleaning station is designed to take care of that ink, it's not a problem. When powering the printer on, see if the cleaning station is moving and what causes the cartridges to be jammed. The cleaning station can lock the carriage if it's incorrectly initialized (ie, after disconnecting the printer if it wasn't turned off). Try to manually move it (with a pen or something) to the back of the printer, that would unlock the carriage.
