Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck

I just put a cassette tape in the left deck. The cassette player made some funny sqeaky and clicky noises, and refused to play the tape. I tried to remove the tape, and now the door is stuck. Without breaking the door off, how do I open it to remove my cassette?? Help, and thanks!!

Both doors on dual cassette stuck shut with tapes inside. Won't play tapes either. Phoned Panasonic who said to unplug the unit for 20 seconds. Didn't work.

I had the same problem on a Sony TC-WR635S, tried the wheel rotation, then the wheel wouldn't turn either direction once it rotated to a stop one way. Then I took a good look at the cassette tape that was stuck and noticed something like reflective cloth in one of the two holes at the bottom of the tape. Yep, it was tape wrapped around the capstan. On this Sony deck, if you can get the door to open just a bit, the door cover will pop off if you lift up on it gently on both sides. I removed the door cover, pulled the tape out from around the capstan in little pieces, then the door came open like normal. Problem finished. The tape had prevented the cassette from sliding out, thus keeping the door closed. I think this should be the first thing anyone looks for when a cassette door won't open.

I don't really know the correct name, but I think tape deck is correct. I wanted to review some footage and as soon as I pressed rewind it said please remove tape. When I open the hatch that covers the tape deck, ect. the tape deck didn't even make an effort to open. I hear the noise signaling the camera registers that I opened the hatch. This is on a Canon GL2. I can't ruin the tape because this is valuable footage

The cassette mechanism has a large gear that rotates to different positions for the different modes. On time around is a play - stop cycle. It is stuck in one position and won't come around to the stop spot. Need to take the cover off and help it to turn to get the cassette out. Then figure out if something is wrong preventing it from turning or if the wheel driving it is the problem. They are all a little different so this is where your mechanical apptitude comes in.
By the way, you'll figure out right away they don't intend these things to be fixed.
Hope Ya Fix It.

Left Deck Door Stuck Shut on Cassette Deck

Hi what has happened is when you pressed play the tape head that reads the tape has come up as normal this locks the door as you cant open it when its playing but instead of the tape head releasing and going back down into start possition it has become jammed in the tape itself.
You have two options turn off at mains and give it a gentle bang a couple of times this might free the tape and let the head go back to start possition its upto you how hard you tap it but doing this usually works and will allow you to get the tape out failing this then its going to be a case of stripping it down till you can get access to the tape head and be able to free it from the tape allowing door to open let me know how you get on ok and if you need further assistance

When I play a tape on a Sony TCW475 dual cassette tape recorder/player there is this loud clunking noise as it begins to play. How can I fix this? It is brand new.

If the clunking is in the deck itself and not in the speakers, it's actually probably normal.
This "clunking" is the unit electro-mechanically lifting the heads into place.

The little brown wheel... Do you mean the rubber idler pulleys that are brown because they've never been cleaned? If they fell off they'll need to be replaced properly by a tech.

Remove the cover to see if any belts under the cassette player is cut. Or to see if there are any obstructions.Remove the front cover.which will remove the tape housing of the cassette player. you can check for any broken plastic compoments that might be keeping the housing from opening.Or any belts that may have been cut.

1995 Saab 900S Left speaker doesn't work when using tape player

sounds like the cassette adapter has a bad channel, or didn't fully seat into place. Try removing and re inserting, to play the other side of the adapter if the wires will allow it. Then auto reverse the cassette deck to allow a different portion of the cassette head to be used for the signal. Those cassette adapters are poor quality, and put alot of time on the mech.

Sounds like the tape tension sensor is stuck. The sensor is always telling the mechanism that the tape has reached the end.
