Are the rollers worn out? If they have a slick appearance, that is your problem. Also examine the tray and see if it is lifting properly.

Not printing-checked for paper jam, found none. Turned off and back on. Took out paper, put back in. Checked connection. Can't think of anything else. Oh yes, hit reset button.

Does it sound normal or like it's trying to pull paper from the tray when trying to print? If so, for some reason, the paper may not be catching onto the rollers. How about the tray, is it fairly full or empty. Take out the tray and try adding some more paper if low. If already full, try taking some paper out and see if that helps. Otherwise, try taking some out and adding different paper. Could be the paper.

Good luck!

HP 4200 printer paper jam. No paper is jammed

OK, if the printer says jam but no paper inside and prints after you open and close the cover the paper likely never made it out of the tray. Or the machine thinks the page never made it out of the machine.
As far as input check your rollers 1 in the tray and the pick up roller in the machine if you don't have alot of pages on the machine these likely OK.
Next (and this I have found often) check the paper back stop in the tray. This is the guide to set the length of paper. If it is set just a little long the roller cannot catch the edge of the paper. Sometimes the teeth the guide sets in are broken or worn.
The output would be the sensor in the fuser replace fuser.
Hope this helps

"replace paper tray, not correct size for cartridge" shows up whe

A couple of things. Make sure you tell the machinne the size of paper, and also check to see that not only the size of the peper but the type of paper On the machine and the print driver match.
One of the most common issues with that message is that the machine will say Plain paper and the print driver says Bond or Recycled.
Now, if that is not the indication, what you want to do look on the right front side of the paper tray itself. There are small tabs, about 1/2 of an inch by less than a quarter inch. They insert into small holes in the tray. They often times break or just fall out on their own. You can just take a piece of tape, obviously not clear tape and cover the holes.
You could have a paper tray sensor that has fallen off. There are black actuators that hang down in the tray that actuate when the paper tray is inserted.

The paper will not feed through

It could be several items causing that. Lets go simplest to most difficult.Remove the paper tray completely, What you do is pull it like you were going to add paper, but give it a slight lift upward and it will come out. Look in there and you will see the feed tires they are "D"shaped and they should have some texture to the surfice. Take some alcohol and clean them a few times to remove all contamination. But if they are smoothe, they should be replaced. You have to run a lot of copies on them to wear them out though. Also try spinning them a couple of times to be sure the latches that stop them from multifeeding are not just stuck.
You know what, lets do this the right way. After you take the paper tray out. also take your toner cartridge out, then lift the machine and lay it on its back so you can see the peper feeder totally. But make sure you remove the toner before you lay it on its back. You may also want to remove the document feeder prior to laying it on its back. That way you can see the rollers batter, look into where the paper feeds and see if there is anything blocking the paper path. Who knows a small pirce of paper may be stuck in there, or a staple or paper clip.
Then check the paper tray carefully, press the plate down and see if it springs back up.
Once cleaned and inspected, replace the tray and toner and try and run the machine. If if still jams, you want to move the machine out fron the wall and remove the back cover. There are 6 screws holding it on. You will want to look near the bottom of the frame, there is a whits grar, cam type drive . It is white, about 2 inches in diameter and about a half an inch thick. There is a solonoid that engages to release the peper feed, run the machine and see if that assembly is realsed to feed paper. If not, the solonoid or the main board may be bad.
There are metal fingeres in the paper tray also that press right on the corners of the paper to stop multi sheet feeds, they may be slightly bent also. They are on either side of the peper when it is in the up position. You can try seeing if the move freely up and down when the tray is out.
Also when you have the machine on its side, look at the clear mylar strips in the paper feed to see if one of them are tucked under.
I suspect dirty or worn rolls, or something to do with the paper tray. That is mostly where mis feeds occur.
Please let me know and we will look more into it.

Paper jam message

1 Step One Inspect the paper trays to make sure they are not overloaded. To determine if this is the problem, do a test print with only one piece of paper loaded in the paper tray. (If this turns out to be the problem, keep the paper tray half-full in the future.) 2 Step Two Check that the type of paper being used falls within the printer manufacturer's recommendations. For example, paper designed for ink-jet printers doesn't necessarily work well in laser printers. High-quality, bonded paper will cause paper jams in some printers; look for bonded paper that is "laser and ink-jet compatible." 3 Step Three If someone has recently printed labels on this printer, check to see if a label has come unglued from a sheet and become stuck inside the printer. 4 Step Four Check the gears and rollers for stuck shreds of torn paper from previous jams. Turn off the printer before you attempt to remove the bits of paper. 5 Step Five Try changing the ink cartridge. 6 Step Six If you hear a clinking sound during printing, your printer probably has a broken gear and needs to be serviced by a technician.
