A month ago my mouse and keyboard to the computer was not reading so I bought the ones that connect to the USB port. A couple of days ago the mouse didnt work no matter which USB port I put it in, then a few days later the same happened to the keyboard..both the mouse and keyboard will work on another computer so I know it is not them...the next day when I turned on the computer the monitor says that the tower is not connected so now the connect to the monitor is not working..the only thing that seem to be working is the power supply...My question is : What happened why it happened and Can I still fix this computer without paying an arm and leg or is it better to buy another and transfer my data from this computer to a new one?
With the storm last night, I was about to turn off my PC Compaq SR1010V, just then I smelled smoke, I unplug the PC. I tried later powering back up, but all that happens is the fans come on then the PC shut down. The power light on the front will not come on, the power light on the (Power Supply) on the back of the PC will come on when the power cord is plug in. I had a friend check the power supply all seems fine with that, we even switch power supply, same story. Could it be the mother board? I believe right before this happen my camera said that it was not connected to the PC, just like the guest complained about there mouse & key board. Please Help. Thank You,

What kind of connection does your keyboard and mouse use? you may want to try a known working keyboard through usb. Then try a usb. Isolate the problem and go from there. Thank you, Lee
Try disconnecting the A/C source.
Allow unit to set for 5 minutes.
Re-install power and restart uint.
If that does not work, Disconnect power and remover supply connections at the motherboard.
Allow to set for afew minutes, and re-connect.
Sometime, removing the connections at the motherboard, allows the supply to reset.
You should have a 4 pin video connection and a 24 pin main board connection.
Note. Make sure your power is disconnected before attempting this service.
in short Yes. however let me explain something. You must leave the wifi connector for the one you are using plugged into your computer, and you must install the drivers for the nano mouse, and leave its wifi connector plugged in as well. this is very simple. The reason for leaving both wifi connectors connected to the computer is because one will allow your keyboard to input data and the other will alow you to move your mouse. the only problem that i know of in this situation is interfearence between the mouse and the keyboard being on different Frequency channels however I dont think you will have this issue. If the hard drive is is not damage maybe you can save all important files on it.
Please do the step by step troubleshooting of your laptop.
REmove the following:
1. Memory
2. hard drive
3. processor:
4. Battery
try this;
1. Fix some other connection inside the laptop
2. Insert AC plug then start the system.
3. shutdown the system
4. Insert the processor
5. swittch on the laptop.
If beeping; continue
step 3;
6 insert the memory.
7. start the system
8. If display, connect the harddrive.
in step 5: if not beeping:
Either board or processor is dead.
IN step 8.
9. start the system.
10. if the hard drive is detected, and cannot continue booting
i recommend you to reinstall the windows.

Ouch! The answer to your question is yes. The hard drive inside the tower has all your information on it (regardless of the condition of the rest of the PC) and can be transferred to another computer by making it a 'slave' drive. Then the computer's main HD (also called 'master' hard drive) can usually read from it. Rest assured, your data is still there.
