Question about Panasonic CQ-C7103U CD Player

1 Answer

Panasonic CQ-C7103U having faceplate attachment issues.

The CD player as of recently (it's an awesome radio) has begun doing this thing when I attach the faceplate, it clicks in and everything and it turns on, but the display stays blank, the SRC is the only thing lit up, but it still plays audio.

Problem is, it won't let me change tracks, volume etc, unless I press the center of the faceplate in, causing it to light up, and say welcome. OR it WILL work and every time i press a button it reconnects (i.e. says welcome again) but doesn't cut out the sound, meaning it will play seamlessly throughout the welcome message. This has resulted in me assuming its a problem with the metal 'jack' or 'port' that attaches the face to the radio is loose or bent. Or maybe the whole face itself is barely bent or something?

It looks fine otherwise and works fine too, just gets annoying everytime. Just wondering if theres a way to fix it, or where to get it fixed?

You can order a new faceplate from Panasonic, if that is the problem. (You may find one on ebay, too?) Carefully check the connection before spending anything, as I wouldn't want to suggest spending on something that isn't broken. If you have electronic skills, check the internal connections from the jack to the internal board and every other connection. Also look for cracks in the board. If found, a light coat of solder can fix that up fairly well, and not cost anything.

Of course, this is all a guess, and I would verify everything yourself before doing anything. Good Luck.

I bought a car with a panasonic deck in it, I think, because i found a remote in it, so i am hoping ot purchase a deck faceplate for it, but i cannot tell which model the remote in the glovebox matches....

a faceplate will cost you quite a bit, you're better off buying a new radio. The last time I priced a faceplate for a $99 Sony CD player, the faceplate was $119 !

I noticed an XM symbol on the faceplate. How do I

You will need to get the XM add-on that Panasonic makes in order to get the functionality I think you are trying to get. With an external radio, you could hook it into an Aux to get sound, but you would not have the options to change channels from the Panasonic. In order to do that, you will have to buy their add-on. I have a separate Sirius Radio, and I prefer it that way because the display is so much easier to read.

Panasonic CQ-C700U

Sorry, there's no way to repair the CD, if faulty. Try looking for a "reset" a VERY tiny hole somewhere behind the "door", on the face of the radio chassis...Using a paper clip end push into the tiny hole for a few seconds, ignition/radio on...If you can't find a reset...take it to a friendly local car stereo shop and ask them to diagnose the problem ($40).
Good Luck

Where is the AUX input on this player?

Sorry, but the RCA jacks for Aux input are only available in the back of the player. If possible, you could try to attach RCA jumpers to the jacks without removing the unit, but as I have no idea of the vehicle involved, I can't say if that would be possible. IF you have the "Release" keys, sliding the chassis out should not be a problem. Slide out, attach jumpers, and slide back in after routing the jumper cable(s). (This also assumes the unit was slid in using the standard slide in and lock mounting.)

Hope that isn't all bad news. Good Luck.

Not turning on

That Red light is saying that the front panel is not attached. This is the "Security Indicator" and is to warn crooks when you have removed the face plate. If this is on, and the plate is attached, I would remove and replace the front detachable plate once to ensure a good connection. That's a simple thing to try and only requires a quick operation.

Hope that helps. (If not, more info is needed for me to be of any help.)
