Hi, I have just purchased a refurbished 2wire 2700HG-B modem/router from DigiDave on Ebay and although the wireless side is set up so that my laptop reports an excellent signal, I cannot access the web with the desktop even though it is connected via an ethernet cable. There was no software provided with the device and the user guide I got from the 2wire website does not help me to configure it. Can anyone help please. A software download would be of great assistance as the User Guide talks about installing software. I have had to connect my old modem, which is not wireless enable

The network appliance you're asking about is a modem with a wireless router built in. Basically, it's an all-in-one device. It will replace your already existing modem. It is a wise upgrade for any AT&T DSL connection.
It sounds as though you are using both a belkin wireless router and the 2wire 2700HG-B Router. Setting up 2 routers to work together can be tricky and unless there is some specific reason to do so I recommend you just use the 2wire router.
to connect your xbox live wireless to 2wire gateway router you need to go to your xbox menu and click on settings then click A on joystick.Go to network settings then select ip address configure automatic ip. No. A router has 2 main interface types WAN (for the internet connection side, and LAN (for the home network side) the 'LAN' side often has up to 4 ports and wireless connectivity for the home network.
The most common routers available at electronics retail use a CAT-5 connection for the WAN ports and the LAN ports. Your DSL modem/router uses a phone line input for it's WAN port, which uses a signal type that is incompatible with the cable modem output.
If COX doesn't offer a router with the cable modem package, you can go and purchase and common brand of home networking router, and attach it to the output of the cable modem.
Hi, you will need a ethernet card in the pc to connect up a wireless router, most dont work with usb,
otherwise you would need a wireless adapter.
once you do get it connected, go into internet explorer and type in the ip adress for the router, will then come up with a menu for you to programme in your broadband details, once you get the router up and going, go into the PS3 settings, network settings, it will pick up the router all you need to do is enter the network key and its all go from there.,
ethernet card should cost you about £10 from any shop
Happy New Year
How do you connect to the 2wire 2700HG? Wireless or ethernet? In any case I suggest to access the mdc (management and diagnostic console) of your 2wire and check the DSL Diagnostics under the Troubleshooting Category. Check the attenuation rate of your 2wire there so you can see if external problems are affecting the 2wire. The 2wire is also a modem\router and eventough it rarely affects the speed of your connection, the 2wire Firewall might also affect the speed of your cx. Another thing to check are the electrical interference on your 2wire. EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) do affect the 2wire router greatly. I mean it LITERALLY. A great Interference can cut your signal strength from full bars to 1 bar even tough your just 10 feet away from the router. You can also check the Broadband Status on the Network at a Glance Page to check if the speed are jumping in and out. And also try to contact your Internet Service Provider or the 2wire direct technical support (1-877-3478680) for further assistance. God Bless!
