Question about Lexmark P315 InkJet Photo Printer

No power. this is my 2nd printer in as many weeks,both the same make.both have powered up the first time,but when iv tried again a few days later none of them had power.i find this very odd and frustrating.i tried different power cables with both with still no joy.do these pinters have some sort of standby cut off thing that i should know about??i dont think the shop where i bought it from will beleive me if i have to take it back again.please help..

I'm guessing that it is hooked up to a usb port. Try removing all unneeded devices using usb ports. Then plug in the printer power and connect to pc. If this works, buy a usb "powered" hub. The pc has only so much power assigned to the usb ports and is under powered when you start adding printers, cameras, wireless key boards, mouse, etc.

Hi there try a different power socket in either your surge protector or on the wall. If this doesn't work I think something is blowing the power board of the printer check your electrics.

Error code 917.00


Step Action 1 Turn off the printer and let the printer sit, powered off, for one minute. 2 Power the printer back on. 3 If the 917 error does not return on power-up, try printing a few pages. If the error does not return during printing, this may have been an isolated incident. Continue using the printer as before, but pay close attention to it for the next few days to see if the error returns. 4
If the error returns on power-up, as soon as you try to print, or re-appears at a later time, inspect the transfer roller. (Click the links in the steps below for images.)

  1. Turn the printer off.

  2. Open both the lower front cover and the upper front cover of the printer.

  3. Remove the toner cartridge and place it aside.

  4. Look at the transfer roller. Make sure nothing is stuck on the roller or wrapped around it. If you find any obstruction, try your best to remove it without damaging the transfer roller or knocking the roller loose.

  5. Make sure the transfer roller is not loose or damaged. If the roller is damaged, the roller will need to be replaced. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local authorized service provider for further assistance.

  6. Spin the transfer roller. Make sure it spins freely.

  7. If the transfer roller appears to be fine, reinstall the toner cartridge and power the printer back on.

  8. Try printing again to see if the error message returns.

If the 917 error still will not clear, or if the error continues to occur intermittently, the printer will likely require service. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local authorized service provider for further assistance. See Contacting Lexmark below for more information.

try to remove all the cartridge and turn off the printer unplug the power from source power. clean the cartridge, try to wipe it with cotton and little bit warm water.

i try this problem before have the same problem and same unit.

inform me what will happen ill guide you thru the process.

All the lights are flashing and it says to Reset power. I disconnect the power cord and reconnect. The system looks like it is resetting and then the same flashing lights appear and it again says to Reset...


Hi Joe,

Lets try 2 steps:

1st approach:
1. With the printer “ON” unplug the power cord form the printer.
2. With the printer now unplugged, press and hold “# and 6′ keys in the printer..
3. While still holding these keys down, plug the power cord back.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.

2nd approach:
1. Unplug the power cord
2. Wait for 30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cable back in the printer and turn it on.
(repeat 3 times)

If none of these to approaches work, I’m afraid the failure is “fatal” as the main circuit board might be fried L

The error is indicative of a hardware error.
Remove the power cord, hold # + 6 (semi-full reset) or # + 9 (full reset) buttons, then connect the power cord again, wait 3 secs (or until "Initializing Full Reset" appears on the printer display) and release the buttons.
This will set the printer configurations to its factory defaults.
Reset: Press the * and # buttons (simultaneously), followed by 1 , 2 , and then 3
Underware menu: Press the * and # buttons (simultaneously), followed by 1 , 2 , and then 4
Clear and reset NVM RAM: Press and hold OK and Cancel while plugging in the power cord.
If none of those work, it will need to be returned to HP as a failed unit.

Unplug the power cord from the All-In-One when there is still power in the unit, also unplug it from the wall outlet.
Leave the cable unplugged for at least 1Min.
Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet without any surg protector (if possible try switching outlets) and before connecting it to the All-In-One press and hold the # and no 6 button in the All-In-One and connect the power cord to the All-In-One do not release the keys until it says semifull reset or if the screen goes blank release the keys and turn the power on in the All-In-One.
Then check to see if the unit is OK
