Mac's a bit differant than windows. To change your screen resolution first change the monitors refresh rate to something like 75 hertz. Than you can change the Screen resolution. Thats how it is done on a windows machine. Than again your Mac might need a video card software update.

Look at pg. 7 in your manual for the H190L. This monitor only supports what is listed. And looking at your H190L I see only 1 VGA output. So If you connected two monitors than the Mac has dual VGA outputs. Is this correct? How about plugging the the H190L into the other VGA connector on the Mac with out the other monitor & see if you can change the screen resolution? I'm not a fan of Mac's I admitt that. Though in many respects windows & Mac's are similar. Your video software must have software installed in order to support two monitors. That is were you need to go & setup 1 connector's output. Than you should be able to correct the display's resolution to your preferance.

TV won't recognize signal from a DVI to HDMI input adapter

I had a similar problem with a Mac Mini.  The problem was caused by a mix-matched resolution (the Mac tries to use 75Hz refresh rate, TV expects 60Hz).  The best solution I found was to remote into the Mac (I used LogMeIn.com) and change the resolution on the Mac from a remote computer until the image appears on screen.
Process: 1) Connect Mac to a normal monitor and install the LogMeIn server (or other VNC type application) 2) Connect the Mac to the TV 3) Connect to LogMeIn from another computer (preferrably one where you can see the TV) 4) Go to Applications / System Preferences / Display 5) Change the resolution to your TVs native resolution, and change the refresh rate to 60Hz

This usually means the display resolution settings on your PC are set too high for the monitor to display the signal. Try lowering the resolution on your PC.

Check your grahics card to make sure it supports higher resolutions. It may be that you have it already set to highest supported by your video card. Hope this helps.

Without knowing any more about your system I can only give you a couple of general ideas.
First try updating to the newest video card drivers possible.
You can try going to the drivers tab in display adapters in device manager and click update drivers.
Failing this, if your system is more than a few years old you will probably have to update to a more current video card to get the resolution that you need.
The native resolution for your screen is 1280x1024.
