Sony KV34-HS510 is there a certain IC that has a history of going bad that makes the TV make a clicking sound every time you try to turn it on

Just mention the full model number of your Sony TV. There will be some more letters follow [KV34-----]. Send it clearly to me by Fixya. Even though it is 34" TV, these suffixes are important for trouble shooting.OK.

Bad grounds are your problem. This TV is aging and suffering form time. You will need to rework the power supply, check your capacitors and grounds. You will need to purchase an ESR meter to locate and replace capacitors. The next thing is to locate the vertical IC. By now this IC has pins that are separated from the grounds. You will see rings around the vertical IC pins on the solder side of the board. Once again search the main board for bad grounds on ICs mounted to heat sinks, power resistors,capacitors, diodes, jumpers, transistors and most certainly the flyback transformer and the horizontal transformer. I feel this TV can still be saved from recycling. Any one with electronics experience knows what I am talking about. If you can not do this find a TV tech, or a hobbiest. This sounds like a problem i had at the shop some time ago. If i got the right case history. this might be a bad tube. I Found in my case. it was the green tube.. also a shorted ic 7201 and a bad resistor 7301. It might be another tube. this might be other issues but without examing it this is my best guess :)

You may have to resolder your vertical IC. This seems to be a common occurence for many Sony TVs. This is my first diagnosis when I get one of these in. But, yes there could be a bad ground almost anywhere. You will need to pull the board out and resolder any IC mounted on heatsinks and any large power resistor and resolder the pins connecting the flyback transformer to the board. This tip is always the first place to look for in repair. Good Luck and be mighty careful. Thanks for asking!

Hi Randy, the vision IC is bad, it requires replacement so please take it to a qualified service personnel for replacement assistance. Do not try anything further.

Since the set appears to "recover", it suggests either a poor solder connection or bad cap somewhere in the power supply. The 7 blinks indicate the problem circuit is in the horizontal area. Check the regulator (STRxxxx) IC in the power supply. If you do not have experience working with TVs, please refer this repair to a shop. The regulator IC costs around $25.

Hello,

7X blink is a generic Horizontal Deflection Stop code. There is a chip in the TV, IC8005 or 8006 if I'm correct, that routinely goes bad on these sets. It could be one of any number of transistors or IC's, but that one is usually the culprit.

The chip itself is around 40 dollars, and with labor, you're looking at about 125-175 average, barring any unforseen problems. That's in-shop. Tack on a service call charge if it is in-home (if anyone will do that for you).

Hold setup button on remote while pushing the ON/OFF button on the TV at the same time. It worked for me. i dont think its HV
3 blinks is B+ voltage.

just replace the main board.
sum times andrews electronics has them for around $80

tv is in protection mode...first u most measure psu output, next horizontal transistor driver, and all outupts from flyback....and find witch one is in fault
