Question about Midland WR-100 Weather/RDS Radio

Midland WR 100B Weather Radio

We bought this radio last year. It has always worked fine, but the last 2 storms we had last week here in IN, the radio never went off and the watch/warning lights never lit up on the screen. We have double checked that the codes are still in, they are. Any help as to why all of the sudden it isn't going off when alerts are out there?

I had this radio. Received it as a gift for Christmas and the radio works fine. I have not been able to receive alerts. I ended up buying a radio shack model and have the same problems. I don't even get the weekly tests. The county codes are correct.

I programmed my weather radio and it worked for a while.  Now it does not give me alerts, warnings or does the weekly testing.  It will say in text every now and then to check reception.  Adjusting the antenna is not helping at all.

I am having the same problem. I have tried coding and re-coding for my specific county and all counties around me to no avail. It worked fine for about a year but now it never alerts me when there are issues.

Try setting the S.A.M.E. code setting from Multiple or Single to ANY.

How do i get my WR 100 to stop squeaking durring a weather emergency?

Have you tried tuning to different NOAH frequencies to see if one of them gets better reception? Also, if the radio is close to other electrical devices, they could be causing interference with your weather radio reception.
Just a couple ideas tossed out there.
Good luck.

Just bought a Midland 100B Weather Radio. I programmed the channel and SAME Set. I am not receiving any alerts. We are having an alert right now, but it is not displaying the LEDs or the voice/siren is not...

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to help solve this concern. You just purchased a Midland WR-100B All-Hazards Weather Radio. You have all the information programmed correctly in it and you are still not receiving any alerts. First of all, log on to this website and check to make sure that the transmitter tower in your area is still working (this means your county does not have a DEGRADED remark in its row).

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm

When you get to the website, select your state and you will see a list of all the counties in your state. Find your county and locate the REMARKS column. If your county has a remark stating "OUT OF SERVICE" or "DEGRADED", it means the tower transmitting broadcasts for your state is not working due to technical problems or recent severe weather conditions. If your county doesn't have one of these remarks beside it, then the reason why you are not receiving any alerts on your radio is because the National Weather Service has special criteria that a storm has to meet in order for them to alert NOAA Weather Radio owners "In the middle of the night or while doing daily activities". To translate that for you, they don't want to disturb anyone by sending alerts for storms that are not "life threatening" or going to cause severe damage. Click on the links below to find out more information about when alerts are broadcast.

http://www.weather.gov/os/eas_codes.shtml

http://www.weather.gov/nwr/nwrwarn.htm

NWR always runs Required Weekly Testing every Wednesday starting from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you are able to, check the radio then. If you see the amber light shine, then you are receiving a test. http://www.weather.gov/nwr/nwrtest.htm is the place to find more information about NWR testing. I hope this will give you a better understanding of when the National Weather Service sends alerts to the viewing area. Thank you for choosing FixYa to as your one-stop solution spot for questions, concerns, problems and requests. Stay safe this Severe Weather Season and have a good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post.

Midland WR-100 Weather Radio Troubleshooting

With this radio receiver you have to set the county or counties code for the alert system to work. This encoded tones turn the radio to receive the alert signals.
