Question about Acer TravelMate 240 Notebook
Two suggestions, first you may need to enable it in your computers setup program. Normally you have the option just before windows starts to load, either by pressing F8 or esc will get you into the the computers main/basic setup screen. You should find the wi-fi is disabled so just a case of changing it to enable.
Secondly, within windows go to control panel then device manager, network adaptors, and you may find that your broadcom 802.11g network adaptor is disabled, you will need to enable it by using the icons at the top. If there is a problem with it then there will be a question mark beside it, then you will need to post the error message your getting for further assistance.
