Question about Compaq Evo N610C Notebook
Applications crashes unexpectedly or
sometimes freezes the system of my N610c. Have checked RAM with
Memtest and even installed a new fresh module. Have also tried
switching to another HD. All in vain. A peculiar phenomena is that
the OS (Ubuntu 7.10) never crashes by itself. The same OS and
applications are perfectly stable on other PCs' (a Dell Latitude Px
and several different desktops) which leads me to believe it is a
hardware problem. Since I cannot figure out what to do next I am very
grateful for any ideas. Anyone heard of something similar?
If the bottom part of the laptop becomes too hot... the system will freeze itself... that is due to the heat sensor that activates when it reached the temperature limit. Check the exhaust fan of the laptop if it is working... and blowing hot air out.. If not, you need to do something about that, before you fry your laptop....
Hoping a Fixya on that.... Good luck
