Make sure the freezer is at zero degrees. If you don't have an accurate thermometer; just set the freezer colder. Discharging the ice is the beginning of a cycle and the ice maker is thermally proctected so it will only run at zero degrees. Wait 24 hrs. for a harvest. Don't keep opening the freezer to check as it will only warm up. I hope this helps. Jeff

If it won't freeze the cubes that because the freezer section is not cold enough to freeze them. the ice maker itself dose not have any cooling in it. it all comes from the freezer. sounds to me like there may be a problem with the ice maker and it may need to be replaced.

Freezer won't make ice cubes, but does provide cold water.

The water and ice maker are two seperate water control valves built onto the same. Your water control valve for the ice maker may be defective and require that you change the set. Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If the ice maker dumps the ice into ice bin and then does not refill then this points to the water control valve. If the ice maker does nothing after water freezes then the problem is the ice maker. Send me a model number and I will look up the part numbers for you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a Kitchen Aid KSRG25FKSS17 side by side refrigerator and ther ice maker stopped working. I got the ice out of the tray and it filled up with water and the fingers cycled around but will not push the...

Good day,
When ice cubes are formed, a thermostat embedded in the ice maker closes, and then starts a motor that cycles the rakes, ejecting the cubes.
When the fingers of the rake hit the frozen cubes, the motor stalls.
However, there is an electric heater embedded in the bottom of the ice maker that at the same time is heating the well of the ice maker, freeing them up and allowing them to be discharged.

You should remove the ice maker, to see if there is a foreign object that fell into the well, preventing the cycle from continuing. If so, remove the item and reinstall the ice maker.

More commonly, the motor has weakened or the heater has failed. In either case, replacing the ice maker is your only option. There are in some cases a repair possible, but it is not cost effective.
