If you see nothing or just the apple icon, plug this device to an apple computer and use itunes to recover the phone.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305740

If this article does not help, try connecting the iphone to another computer with itunes to see if the issue persists.
If the issue persists, you might want to call applecare.

1- Make sure the USB port is working by plugging in a flash drive to see if the computer recognizes it, 2- Most the time the contact from the bottom of the iphone is collecting dust due to phone in and out of pocket preventing a good electrical contact. Have it cleaned with dust sprayer. 3- Trying to use it charger unit to see if there is a problem with a cable so it can be replace. the necks of the cable get bent so much can cause the conductor broken inside.

Try turning it off and then back on, if turning it on and off doesn't work, restoring it might work. Also try to remove the SIM card and put it back into the phone. I recommend simply exchanging the phone at the Apple store if it is still under warranty. Click on the links below to see other soultions for the charge and sync iphone problem

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it sounds like you might have a faulty battery. When the iPhone battery completely dies off, you cannot charge the phone using a USB port from a computer. It needs the regular wall charger to start charging. The USB port charging method using the sync cable only works as long as you have some charge left in the battery for the device to boot up. If you have already tried the wall charger then it is for sure that it’s the battery that has gone bad. Also please make sure your computer is not set to go to sleep as when your computer goes to sleep, it in effect cuts off the power to the USB connection. But since the iPhone is connected it thinks that it needs to be on. Sleep mode will drain your battery instead of charging it.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I believe I have provided you with enough information what could be bad as it cannot be anything else apart from the USB Port of your computer or the battery in your iPhone.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks
    Rylee

I resetted my iphone but it still wont let me unlock it after doing that but the screen lights up

After you reset your iPhone it may require you to plug it into a computer with itunes. Turn the iPhone off plug the sync cable into the iPhone and then a computer with itunes. It should come up with a registration information. Allowing you to then unlock your iPhone.

How do i charge my ipod

To charge the battery, choose one of the options below:
  • Connect the device to your computer (not your keyboard) using the included cable to charge the battery and sync. Your computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If the device is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the battery may drain.
  • Connect iPhone or iPod touch to a power outlet using the included cable and a USB power adapter to charge the battery.
An icon in the upper-right corner of the screen shows battery charging status. If you charge the battery while syncing or using iPhone or iPod touch, it might take longer to charge.
Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged into power and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed, the computer may go into standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPhone or iPod touch may not charge.
Important: If iPhone or iPod touch is very low on power, it may display one of the following images indicating that the device needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it. If the device is extremely low on power, the display may be blank for up to two minutes before one of the low-battery images appears. If you don't see the white charging or plug icons, your iPhone or iPod touch may be connected with a FireWire cable. Disconnect the FireWire cable and connect the iPhone or iPod touch to a USB cable or dock.
that should be everything you need to know about charging an iPod Touch. If you require further assistance please feel free to followup with additional comments. If this solution solved the problem please feel free to rate it. Thanks and have a great day-Midwest-Tek

How do you remove synced photos from the iphone?

You can do this in iTunes - with the iPhone connected select the 'photos' tab and deselect the folder containing the photos, then hit Sync to remove them.
Alternatively, just move the photos to a different location on your hard drive (out of any folder that is set to sync to iPhone), then connect to iTunes and hit sync.
Hope that helps!

My iphone won't sync with itunes. it did at first but now keeps coming up with an error I have an original iphone, never been jailbroken or any such thing, and can not currently get it to sync with itunes...

Recharge
Make sure iPhone is charged. Connect to a USB port and look for the lightning bolt battery icon in the upper right. If you don't see this icon, then iPhone is not charging. The battery will charge to 80% in an hour.
Note: If you put your computer into sleep mode while iPhone is connected via USB, iPhone may not charge.

This screen means to keep iPhone connected so it continues charging. Please note:
If iPhone is not sufficiently charged it will not show up in iTunes
Use a high-power USB port such as the one on your computer, or use your iPhone AC adapter.
Don't use the USB port on your keyboard because it is a low-power port and iPhone will not charge.
Make sure you are using USB to charge. Accessories that use FireWire to charge are not supported with iPhone.
If you see the red part of the battery image flash three times and then the screen goes black, it means that iPhone is not receiving power to charge.

If the above steps dont resolve follow the following steps :
Retry with a different USB port.
Note:
Don't use the USB port on your keyboard because it is a low-power port and iPhone will not charge.

If the above steps dont resolve follow the following steps :
Restart

Try restarting iPhone. To turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Does iPhone appear frozen or stuck? Try pressing and holding the Home button for at least 6 seconds to close a frozen application. Then try restarting iPhone again.

Note: If that doesn't work, try restarting your computer.
If the above steps dont resolve follow the following steps :
Reinstall

Reinstall iTunes 7.7 or later.
Get the latest version of iTunes (7.3 or later) from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Thanks.
