My unit will not operate when using the car battery charger on route. On screen the charging image appears ( GPS linked to Computer by USB connection) This defeats the purpose of traveling any distance over battery use, meaning having to stop unit to enable the battery to be recharged.
cannot find unit S90i mentioned in product list so I have used Navman F20 GPS Receiver to enable this to go thru
The problem is that most of the chargers have the output of 5V/0.5A. The charger for NAVMAN (C30 in my case) has 5V/1A. And that is causing the trouble. The GPS is undercharged and is switching off itself. Buy one which specify the output power: 5V/1A.
Hope I solved your problem

Turn the Navman off by holding the power button in the upper left corner of the device until the screen goes blank.
Plug the unit into its charger using the USB port on the
bottom of the unit. The battery indicator light next to the power switch
should turn orange, indicating that the device is charging. Once the
light has turned green the charge is complete. If the light does not
turn on, verify that the car charger is plugged into a working outlet.
Are you using a USB cable & charger to operate the GPS?
If so, you should stop and use the supplied cradle / power cord to power the GPS instead. The USB cable is used to transfer data to and from the GPS and on other models (maybe your 350, too) to slow charge the GPS battery when completely discharged. Powering with the USB cable will power up the GPS, but does not allow navigation, mapping, etc.
Charge the unit over night, Plug in the AC charger and you should see a lightning bolt over the battery bar graph display.
With the charger plugged in, gently press and hold the on/off power until the screen goes black and displays the text "Charging battery". After a few seconds, the screen will go black to conserve power. At any time, you can press the screen and it will light up saying its still charging.
If you let it go over night, when you touch the screen, it will say Charging Complete and you can then remove the charger. You should have full green bars on the battery indicator.
No solution but exactly the same model and exactly the same problem. When I put the car charger on the unit, it goes off and then comes back on and ust shows a computer as though the only option it can handle via usb is a computer connection. Interestingly, it still charges, but just becomes useless as a satnav as there are no maps, directions or any scree functionality at all.
Vehicle Power Cable to the nüvi and connect the other end to your
computer, your nüvi does not operate as a GPS unit - it goes into some sort of charging mode. However, if
you FIRST turn on the nüvi in the battery mode then go
into the test mode (press the battery icon for about 8-9 seconds) from the main screen, THEN PLUG in the USB cable, and finally exit the test screen, your nüvi will restart (reboot) and it
will operate just like it was plugged into the cradle connection in your vehicle.
This mode will charge the battery AND operate as a GPS.
It works with my computer USB cable, my cell phone charger and my car charger for my cell phone.
Don't forget to turn off the nüvi before unplugging."
maybe there is a flat or stuffed lithium battery or battery charging circuit in the pin 570. fix: leave unit to charge for 24 h if
the battery still dosnt charge because it is over discharged, then you
may be able to push some charge in it after the battery is unplugged,
after opening the case, and removing the circuit board
