Question about Kenwood KDC-MP435U CD Player

1 Answer

Stereo will not operate correctly

I connected my Kenwood KDC-MP435U to my 1995 Nissan Pickup the way the manual shows to, but the stereo will not display anything. It will however take in a cd and eject it but it will not play or switch on the stereo. I connected the ignition wire from the stereo to the truck ignition wire and the stereo battery wire to the truck battery wire and I get nothing but cd in and cd out no power or display, but I did noticed that when I connect the ignition connection and the battery connection together it will operate but it will not save the settings on the stereo. It reset every single time I turn on the stereo when connected that way. Can someone please help me out here?

driving a 2000 civic. just purchased a similar unit (mp438u). connected all the wiring properly...nothing happens. can insert and eject discs but nothing on the unit lights up nor is anything displayed or played through the speakers. bought a different harness, thinking the current one might be faulty...same problem.

i also have a kenwood in my explorer, so i took this unit and plugged it into the kenwood wires i already have in there and the unit worked perfectly.

what's the deal? faulty wires on kenwood's part? the deck we had in the car before this one worked fine. i really don't know what to do.

Did you try running a ground wire from the case of the deck to the battery, just for testing?

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP435U radio in my car and when ever I turn in up kinda loud it will shut off and come back on on its own. Any idea why this is or how I can fix it?

The wattage of the speaker is higher than the required wattage of the stereo. The stereo cannot drive the speaker very well. Use an amplifier if you want to have a loud sounds. Or if you already have sound set-up make sure that you have a capacitor for your amplifiers and fuses to support the power input to your stereo.

I have lost my code to my kenwood stereo. I have a the model KDC-MP435U. How do I unlock it?

Kenwood cannot be unlocked without the code on line. This has to go to Kenwood or a radio de-coding company.
Sorry but at least you know.
Good luck with it, Dave

When i turn on my player it asks me for a code how do i get this code and program my player?

If you do not knew the code you will need to contact kenwood customer care with the serial number for the stereo. If it was a code you setup (ie.not a factory set code) you will just need to remember it or buy a new stereo.

I cant figure out one of the wires on my kenwood car stereo

Hi, red = ingnition power black = ground yellow = constant +12v blue = remote. There should be 8 wires bunched 4 colours & 4 same colours with white stripes. These you will have to experiment with your cars wiring. This is just a eneral rule for most stereo wiring.
Hope it helps.

How to unlock the stereo

Unfortunately Kenwood codes are only available from the Main Dealer or by using a Radio Decoding Service who will connect a laptop to read the working code inside your radio`s memory chip (EEPROM)

Faceplate has very loose connection

make sure there is no dirt between the metal connections. on my kenwood, excessive removal of the faceplate caused a little dirt build up...check this and itll probably solve your problem

Aux location

There is a RCA cable that comes off the back of the radio and also another cable for 3.5mm (mini-stereo jack) that also comes off the back of the radio. The RCA jacks can be used for "AUX" or "Sub-woofer" and the 3.5mm jack is just for "AUX". Your ipod can use the audio output jack or the headphone jack and plug that into the 3.5 mm jack on the back of the radio. You will need a "3.5mm male" to "3.5mm male" stereo cord that can be purchased at Radio Shack or Best Buy. Then you select "AUX" on the display with the source button to listen to it. You may need to go into the menu and activate the "AUX" input. Check your owners manual for details.
