I don't know this model but you can try this.Drop the film canister in and pull the film strip out and place on the film advance sprocket.Rotate the sprocket by hand/thumb until film is seated (1 turn). If the auto feed is working you will be OK. 2 other things ,1 of course load film in dark area, 2 check the batteries on the camera first, if they are week your film advance wont work ,Good Luck.
It did not load your film. open the back, be sure you have the film pulled across the opening to the far side of the take-up spool, and close the back again. It should make noise as it winds the film, then number 1 should appear in the top window. If it does not make noise and advance film, you likely need the film advance motor replaced. Every time you close the back, it will try to advance film. The motor itself can die and those plastic gears can break teeth. If repositioning the film does not work, your maxxum needs a trip to the repair shop.
normally theres a little slider on the side or a lever you have to pull up from the top of the camera (the film winder). do it in a pitch black room though if you can because there could be an old film in there and it'd be a shame to ruin it if it is really old. hope that helped!
Are the batteries good ,is the battery cap and contacts clean? Can you fire the shutter? Move select off auto and try to release the shutter. If the shutter fired off auto and will not fire on auto with good batteries. Either the shutter or flex circuit must be replaced. There are no new parts avail. for the X700.
One other item for the X700. check to see if the shutter fully traveled on the last shot.
Hi -- yes if you cannot advance the transport mechanism ( and so cannot load the film ) this is because shutter is not working ! This a very common problem and is due to leaking capacitor ( 220 microF ) situated on the botttom of the camera. Remove bottom cover and replace the capacitor . You should be able now to release shutter and load your film.
I'm assuming you're not able to shoot pics.
Its my best guess that the film just isn't getting loaded properly.
Next time you attempt to load film there maybe a small red mark near the take spool (bottom edge where film goes) to indicate how far you need to pull the leader forward toward take up spool.
I think the film isn't out quite far enough for the camera to do its auto load thing & when you close the back it goes thru its auto loading motions but the film just isn't getting loaded. Then close back & see what happens.
