If you have to get a new light engine, and that sounds like the problem, Hitach will cover the part. We recently went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachis customer REALTIONS department at 800-654-7013 and tell them about the problem. When you tell them that you think you have a bad light engine, they will initially act like they've not heard about this but they have. They will however give you the names of some certified dealers in your area. Once you have the dealer come out and the tech confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back at the number I listed above and tell them that the tech confirmed that it's a defective light engine. They will call the dealer directly and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will pay for the part (aroun $1500).

If you're not under warranty, you will have to pay for the install. Our install was $400 but other on this post have paid as little as $200...worth it on an expensive TV. If you're still under warranty, Hitahci will pay for the part and the install.

Once our light engine was replaced, our set looks brand new and the TV is 4 years old. Good Luck:)

Make sure your blue component cable is connected...this is the most common cause for complete loss of blue. If this does not fix it you are looking at having to get a new light engine for this tv. Sorry. Make sure it is not your source first...dvd..cable..etc

Contrast really dark but seems to improve after the tv has been on several hours

Hi:
You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.

Memorex model MVD4543 The DVDs are only playing in black & white. I can't get them to color. Help!

You might want to make sure that your connecting cables are correctly hooked up. B/W picture can be caused when you mix up the connections of component cable. Make sure all the colors match, red with red, blue with blue, etc. Hope that helps!

I basically only see red and green, even when i reset the color

If you see any blue in the TV's menu system then the TV is ok. If you do see blue in the menu system then verify if the TV is connected via component cables to a HD cable box. You will want to verify the blue cable is firmly seated as that will cause a loss of blue in the picture.

The color on the screen is green when I watch movies. How do I fix this problem?

Good day sir, your inquiry about the green lcd screen can be caused by several things. 1. The monitor/tv produces 3 colors, red green and blue, the tv mixes these three colors to produce the picture. a loss of red and blue produces this green screen. so check the cable, specially the red and blue jack of the component inputs, and the red and blue cable. 2. there may be loose contact on the signal cable. try using the video input instead of the component input. 3. the dvd player may have the problem, check the player component out jack. a loose jack port can cause these problem. hope this may help. thanks

Philips 23PF9966/37 color problem!

Most likely you can adjust it in the Service Alignment Mode (SAM).

Press 062596 followed by the STATUS button (upper left). Navigate to "White Tone", press the right key to enter and select "Normal" mode. Set the colors:

Red = 135, Green = 128, Blue = 133.

The "Cool" and "Warm" menus are deltas from the "Normal" settings:

COOL: R -3, G -1, B 5
WARM: R 2, G -3, B -13

Press the "MENU" button to return to the main menu, then the "Power" button to turn the TV off.

Color fades when wathcing TV from greens to reds and also get dark.

Typical problems with lcds.. When they get hot, the color tends to shift. The reason your seeing the problem on the red and green is because of a lack of blue.. Makes sence if you think about it as blue is the hottest wave of light, so the blue panal is getting too hot or possibly the polarizing filter on the tv..

Lamps can cause this somtimes as they tend to shift twords the higher waves at the end of there life.. So if you have another lamp, try it out.

Another possible cause is the driver board for the lcds.. If there is a chip that has a small short, it will overheat as well and cause it not to function properly. I see this all the time on lcd projectors. 1 of 3 things.

Sony bravia lcd tv-

If you are using a HD cable box or satelite with component outputs, be sure that all 3 cables ( green, red, and blue ) are making good connection.A loss of red or blue will cause color shift. Usually,if the tv menu comes up as the correct color but the picture dose'nt, it is most likely a signal problem.
